Full job description
The Director of Financial Aid is a divisional manager and supervises financial aid personnel with a strong commitment to client service and a collaborative approach to problem solving. Supervisory responsibilities include, but are not limited to; oversight of employee selection, training, daily work performance, performance evaluation, and counseling when necessary. This position is responsible for all aspects of processing undergraduate and graduate aid, awarding a variety of scholarships and veteran benefits. The Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships coordinates services between campus units and oversees the awarding of Federal, State, Institutional aid (unfunded and endowment), and coordination of outside scholarship funds.
Essential Functions:
• The successful candidate will provide leadership for fund management,
• Provide excellent customer service,
• Prepare and present at schools regarding the importance of financial aid and the access to education that it can assist students and parents in providing,
• NCAA Division III athletic compliance,
• Strategic policy analysis/planning,
• Scholarship administration, and the processing operation.
• The Director is the certifying officer for Veterans benefits. This position ensures compliance with oversight of qualified veterans, coordinating with The Carter Center’s (Academic Support & Advising) Student Success Coaches to establish a plan of study specific to degree completion.
• The director shares accountability for recruitment and retention in administration of federal, state, institutional and scholarship funds.
• The director works closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management in terms of budgets, strategies for delivery of student aid, and the analysis and implementation of appropriate financial aid models to support college recruitment and retention efforts,
• The director develops policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state regulations, and university guidelines related to a variety of scholarships,
• Assures data integrity,
• Budget management,
• Disseminates data for federal, state and institutional reports.
• The director will work closely with both Advancement to award endowment funds according to the established criteria by the donor,
• Work with the Student Accounts Office to ensure seamless processes and excellent customer relations between offices to better serve the student population,
• Other duties as assigned
Other Duties:
• Weekend or evening work, as needed
• Able to lift 25lbs
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience with Colleague, experience with reporting systems and ability to quickly assimilate information and learn new systems, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well with students, colleagues, campus community, and the community at large, attention to detail, and the highest degree of personal integrity.
