Job description:
Provide direct supervision to hourly employees in the manufacturing of food products; ensure the safe operations of daily activities while meeting established production schedules. Effectively communicate production goals and objectives to achieve results; and maintain a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies in support of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:
• Reports directly to their assigned Operations Superintendent.
• Performs duties of the Shift Superintendent in his/her absence.
• Provides guidance and direction to their assigned team members.
• Mentor and coach hourly team members.
• Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating safe and efficient working environments.
• Support positive employee relations in all aspects of interaction with employees including valuing differences, monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures, and ensuring all policies are administered consistently and equitably across all employees.
• Ensure HACCP and other controlled documents are accurate and completed in a timely fashion. Maintain the highest standards of food safety.
• Establishing and controlling conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
• Organizing and directing workflow for satisfying production requirements in a cost-efficient manner.
• Investigation and analyzing new processes and innovations.
• Developing cost-effective alternatives and improvements to production processes.
• Managing inventory control of essential parts and operating supplies.
• Maintaining proper employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of personnel. Flexible on hours to coach team members on all shifts.
• Coordinate operations with Superintendent.
• Assist other operations as needed and as directed, this may include assistance with scheduling, sanitation, and production departments.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related fields highly preferred.
• Two (2) or more years’ experience in a leadership role.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment desired but not mandatory.
• High-level leadership and decision-making skills.
• Able to motivate, influence, and train people.
• Able to interact with all professionals of Plant Management.
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• Must be able to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and ramps.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while observing operations and hourly team members.
