SUMMARY
The Loss Prevention Specialists are responsible for the collection of delinquent, negative, and fraudulent accounts in a professional manner, while protecting the Credit Union's assets and attempting to serve the members' best interest, whenever possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Loss Prevention Specialist I performs the following essential functions:
1 Monitors and collects delinquent loan accounts and negative balance share accounts by contacting members daily by phone/mail/email to determine the reason for delinquency/negative activity and then using appropriate tools established for documentation and follow-up purposes.
2 Reviews collections, charge-off and other reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection and recovery policies and procedures, recommending revisions or developing new procedures as needed.
3 Evaluates, recommends and implements the disposition (charge-off) of delinquent, negative and fraudulent accounts.
4 Analyzes members' financial status, credit and assets (including but not limited to collateral) evaluation to determine collection
strategies. Recommends and implements member specific collection strategies.
5 Responsible for the management and placement of collateral for repossession, preparing all documentation to clear collateral for sale, preparing collateral for sale, requisitioning of expense checks, paying and documenting expenses.
6 Reports regularly to Senior Leadership on all delinquent, negative, and fraudulent accounts, including course of action taken.
7 Performs administrative duties, such as, but not limited to, processing payments directed to the department, handling GAP and debt protection claims, liquidating collateral and applying proceeds and collecting deficiency balances, preparing documentation required by collection agency and posting payments received from the agency, and performing skip-tracing duties as required.
8 Provides exceptional service when responding to needs and inquiries of members, potential members, and internal members, always representing the Credit Union in a courteous, professional, and positive manner.
9 Reviews all billings from attorneys, repossession agents, auto detailing services, mechanics, etc., that involve assigned collection work.
10 Attends or completes initial and ongoing annual compliance training; successful completion will be documented.
11 Complies with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA).
12 Complies with all Federal and State rules and regulations pertaining but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act and other Anti-Money Laundering, Bank regulations, Bank Bribery Act, Privacy Act, Truth in Savings, Reg E, Reg CC, Fair Housing Act, Reg B/ECOA, Reg C/HMDA, Reg Z, FCRA/FACTA, Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, and Military Lending Act.
13 Complies with all Blue Eagle Credit Union policies and procedures and the prohibitions enumerated in policies, including but not limited to, the Employee Handbook, ("The Eagle Flight Plan"), the Lending Policy, Anti-Harassment Policy, and Social Media Policy.
14 Completes other duties as assigned by Leadership.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
The Loss Prevention Specialist I must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:
1 A high school diploma
2 Prior experience in a customer service environment with demonstrated ability to problem solve
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
The following qualifications and education are preferred:
1 An Associate degree or higher from an accredited college/university, or equivalent experience
2 Prior experience collecting on past due accounts and loans, minimum 1-2 years
3 Prior experience working in a bank or credit union, minimum 1-2 years
4 Experience with Google Applications: Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar

REQUIRED WORK HOURS & TRAVEL
The Loss Prevention Specialist I works a minimum of 40 hours a week with a flexible schedule, which can include weekends and overtime.
The position will require travel to various Blue Eagle markets and may require out-of-town travel with the potential for overnight stays.
