JOB SUMMARY: This position will provide coordination of daily production operation of Print Services. The Production Coordinator will schedule all work and shop production consistent with departmental priorities, while also providing oversight of quality control, computerized production management, variable data technology, on-line ordering and document submission and sustainability initiatives.
Employment Status: Full-time (12 months), Non-exempt (hourly), Benefits-eligible.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain and monitor the production process to ensure that the quality of finished products and target dates are achieved.
• Prioritize, produce and maintain master schedule of all print projects.
• Prepare files for print.
• Prepare variable data/variable image files for print and mailing.
• Determine resources and materials required for each job; prepare order forms or refer to appropriate team members.
• Communicate with customers using established tools and technology.
• Provide price quotes.
• Maintain pricing and product information from multiple vendors.
• Post and review daily print charges.
• Maintain an appropriate quality control system to ensure consistent production of high quality jobs.
• Be the backup operator for press and bindery equipment.
• Provide minor maintenance for print and bindery equipment.
• Direct and train student employees.
• Maintain, enhance and update the Web to Print Program.
• Provide customer Web to Print Training.
• Represent the department at the weekly Marketing and Communications meeting.
• Review and update daily Marketing and Communication project software.
• Maintain inventory, order supplies including paper stock, envelopes and bindery supplies
• Delegate the supply and toner orders as appropriate.
• Maintain Mac workstations, Web to Print workstations, scanners, and related software.
• Conceive, create and modify design for off campus customers.
• Modify template information for on campus customers with prior approval from Marketing.
• Develop and promote the Department’s sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor and maintain the College FSC certification.
• Customer Service/providing product information, service and troubleshooting support.
• All other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree or 5 years of print and/or design work experience.
• Knowledge of software related to printing technologies, including but not limited to: Adobe Suite products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)
• Strong understanding of digital print equipment.
• Knowledge of print software and equipment, preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of style guides and brand resources.
• Knowledge of paper options, effective color choices and basic design principles.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Working knowledge of postal regulations, preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
• Daily equipment noise.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
