Position Summary:
Sovah Martinsville is seeking a full-time Lead Compounding Pharmacist.
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, oversees all sterile and non-sterile compounding practices.  This position will consist of 50% staffing and 50% administrative and compliance duties.  The lead compounding pharmacist facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies.  The position requires extensive contact with patients, administration, medical staff, nursing service, hospital staff, and non-hospital personnel (vendors, auditors).  The lead compounding pharmacist participates in standards of practice, ensures quality and patient safety regarding medication management and process improvement activities.
Reports to:  Director, Pharmacy
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Board Certified in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) required within 12 months of start date.
Required Skills
Current Pharmacist license in the state of Virginia.
Minimum Work Experience
Three (3) years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
One (1) year experience as an oncology manager, compounding supervisor, clinical coordinator/manager or pharmacotherapy specialist preferred.
Completion of General or Specialized Hospital Pharmacy Residency preferred.
