Job Description: EHS Specialist
Mission / Objective
Assist in the continuous development and reinforcement of our EHS culture so it becomes our personal core value while caring for each other is the standard.
Provide EHS support and guidance for the elimination of incidents that have the potential to be serious or fatal; reduce recordable injuries and ergonomic stressors; and collaborate with staff to create a healthy, sustainable work environment, with less waste and emissions.
Essential Functions and Key Accountabilities
· Engages team members daily on the shop floor to listen and drive cultural change
· Ability to influence others to reduce risk, improve efficiencies, and eliminate waste
· Collaborate with departments to conduct EHS orientation/onboarding requirements for new hires
· Monitor training completion, inspections, corrective action tracking, and PPE usage data
· Identify and communicate EHS trends using leading and lagging indicators
· Development of site-specific EHS standards and improvement of existing standards
· Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure system processes are implemented and effective
· Participate and guide leaders in incident escalation and investigation requirements
· First aid, early symptom intervention, and workers compensation case management
· Direct involvement with ISO standard certifications related to EHS and Sustainability
· Vendor management and utilization to achieve EHS goals and objectives
· Lead and coordinate the plant safety team activities
· EHS project review for design changes and new program commissioning
Education and Experience Requirements
Associate’s Degree required in EHS or related field, Bachelors Degree preferred
3 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing setting
Understanding, interpreting, and application of CFR’s (26, 29, 40, 49)
Technical writing skills for EHS reports, policies and procedures
Conducting safety audits, inspections, and interventions
Understanding of ergonomic risk factors and methods to reduce the risk
Contractor, visitor, and/or vendor safety program oversight
Knowledge of environmental regulations and reporting (Tier II, Form R, etc.)
Industrial hygiene monitoring, instrument use, and calibration
Emergency preparedness and response planning activities
Hazard materials response and management (RCRA, DOT, PHMSA, etc.)
Working with ISO standards (14001, 45001, 18001, 50001)
First aid, CPR or higher certification required
OSHA 30 Hour – General Industry required
OSHA 30 Hour – Construction preferred
Associate, Graduate, or Certified – Safety Professional Designation preferred

Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
