Ohio Valley 2-Way Radio serves customers in a wide variety of businesses and industries including Public Safety, Construction, Manufacturing, Education, Medical, etc. With the ever-expanding Motorola product line the possibilities are endless and Ohio Valley 2-Way Radio is here to assist our customers in continuing to meet their communications needs.
BROAD FUNCTION
This position is responsible for the servicing, installing, repairing a wide range of 2-way communications products (Motorola, Vertex, Kenwood, Whelen, and other). They will apply diversified knowledge of engineering, electronic and IT principles to evaluate technical input and perform problem-solving activities. This position will cooperate and coordinate with the service supervisor to meet customer demands. They will have superior people skills and be able to work closely with customers at their locations to satisfy their 2-way communications requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
• Install, repair and troubleshoot 2-way communications and electronic products (hardware and software).
• Use and understand required data and signal analyzers, power supplies, power meters.
• Troubleshoot and repair various radio, electronic and IT products and circuits /modules on printed circuit boards.
• Program radios and repeaters using vendor supplied software.
• Read and understand vendor/company provided schematics.
• Repair PCB and solder surface mount components using good soldering and troubleshooting techniques.
• Work on customer vehicles installing various electronic communications equipment.
• Able to provide 24/7 service using a service vehicle provided by the company.
• Any other duty or responsibility as deemed necessary by manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Able to lift, move and hold into place up to 50 pounds and team lifting greater than 50 pounds.
• Work inside small areas like vehicle trunks, underneath cars, in engine compartment, underneath dashboards.
• Able to hold, insert, screw together, small and large items like brackets, fasteners, wires, loom, clamps, cable ties using both hands.
• Full motion required of hands, fingers, arms, legs, feet, shoulders, elbows, neck, to fit into and inspect wiring, and product installs inside tight compartments, under, in, and around the vehicle.
• Able to work above and under vehicles. Semi tractors may have heights over 10 feet.
• Read small print on wires and instructions.
• See to solder small wires and components.
• Able to withstand bright flashing lights produced by the emergency lights.
• Able to withstand limited exposure to loud noise (up to 100 Decibels) produced by sirens.
• Able to hear and take instruction from other Ohio Valley 2-Way Radio customers and personnel.
• Able to read and comprehend operator’s and installation instructions and manuals.
• Casual work clothing - jeans, t-shirt/work shirt acceptable. No profane, vulgar or offensive message on clothing. Clothing will be neat and laundered.
• Good personal hygiene.

• Pass Motorola technical service tests & CET program, install, repair radios, repeaters & dispatch equipment
Requirements and Qualifications
• Associate degree in telecommunications, electronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Bachelor's degree (a plus)
• Experience with cable installation, cable splicing, and wiring (a plus)
• Troubleshooting skills
• Valid driver's license
