Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Must hold a Security Clearance at Top Secret level or Q Clearance Level
Holder of an Earned and valid Facility Security Officer ( FSO ) Certification
Prior experience as an FSO in an academic environment.
Position Summary
This position serves as UGA's Facility Security Officer. The FSO serves as UGA's point of contact for any security-related matter, directs the implementation of security measures, and is responsible for coordinating implementation of a security program with the DOE and any prime contractors. This position is responsible for managing and implementing all actions and recordkeeping necessary to UGA's compliance with applicable government requirements and best practices related to facility security.

Duties/Responsibilities
Administer the requirements of the Safeguards and Security Program within UGA and ensure proper levels of protection are provided to prevent unacceptable, adverse impacts on national security or on health and safety of DOE and/ contractor employees, the public, or the environment.

Serve as security point of contact for UGA . Make sure that personnel are aware of good security procedures and practice them and that they know their responsibilities regarding security procedures

Verify the termination of all Safeguarded and secured activity and personnel clearances once a contract is no longer active and terminated, providing security closeout documentation for as needed.
