Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner opportunity at Carilion Clinic. Specialize in Orthopaedic Trauma with coverage of operating room, emergency department consults, and inpatients. 12 or 10 hour shifts with extra comp for evening/night coverage. Team oriented patient care and commitment to learning.
The Nurse Practitioner – Surgery provides billable surgical first assist services. They spend a minimum of 40% of time providing surgical assist services. The rest of the time is spent working with patients doing pre-surgical assessments, rounding post-surgery and providing post-surgical assessment and care. The Surgical Nurse Practitioner has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This role includes responsibility for identifying the patient's health status through taking of health histories; performing physical examinations; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; management of minor trauma and acute health problems; health maintenance and clinical management of stable or chronically ill patients. The Nurse Practitioner interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and provides care according to departmental policies and procedures.
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurse. Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioner, including preceptorship.
Experience: Clinical experience appropriate for specific practice/department.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Current state licensed Registered Nurse (RN) required. Current state licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP) required. DEA license required. Current AHA BLS-HCP certification is required. Advanced life support is preferred and may be required for individuals in practices/departments that may use a defibrillator.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Commitment to continued professional development.
