How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
The Education Team Lead coordinates the education materials and delivery methods for knowledge areas within RCM. The lead is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the curriculum, schedule of new hires and ongoing education. Accountable for the development of the Education Analysts within their knowledge area. Provides outstanding client/customer service and contributes to the organizations mission of utilizing technology to improve patient care. The Education Team Lead supports the RCM Operations Manager by tracking attendance, completing Kronos, providing feedback on staff progressions. Liaison to RCM leaders, sits on committees and project teams.
• Leads, evaluates, plans, designs and establishes subject matter expert for training programs to a broad spectrum of recipients within RCM.
• Develop and maintain education guidelines in coordination with RCM leadership, Compliance and Technology Services. Support facilitating standardized documentation for policy and procedures manuals, procedures, and training tools.
• Lead education curriculum to a diverse and varying audience using appropriate strategies in delivery techniques to meet the needs of the team in achieving a higher understanding of registration, compliance, regulatory and billing principles. Development and delivery of special education for learning compromised team members. Focus on adult learners.
• Represents the educational interests of their knowledge area in committees and meetings with operations and TSG.
• Develops policies and procedures for education. Facilitates open, two-way communication with team members and others.
• Plans for training environment updates and collaborates with HR training on the process. Configures realistic learning scenarios and strong examples for training opportunities, allowing learners to apply what they learn in class to their daily role.
• Delivers efficient, consistent and timely services. Recognizes and acts on opportunities for growth and improvement to advance Carilion goals. Uses project management principles to accomplish goals, seeks out appropriate resources and proactively anticipates change within the market, industry and healthcare system. Aligns services with the mission and vision of Carilion.Translates Carilion goals into specific objectives and priorities.
• Reviews registration quality reviews and RCM quality assurance reports to find trends that will allow for updates to training, additional educational communication, all to improve the quality outcomes. Coordinates with management teams to develop targeted education based on findings. Serves as a resource for data integrity follow-up, research and system implementation
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedure and payer requirements acting as an expert in various department system tools and capabilities.
• Coordinates and produces reports to management including competency validations, quality targets, procedural processing, and updates to training and education programs
• Utilize EPIC test and maintain the training environment scenarios
• Works closely with lead and manager for opportunities to improve education, new materials and delivery methods.
• Provides oversite to ensure that all policies and procedures are incorporated clearly into education materials.
> Support education needs of Revenue Cycle Professional Billing and other areas.
> Lead and mentors Education Analysts.
> Need to work successfully independently/team, self-motivated, strong customer service and written skills.
> Looked upon as a resource and subject matter expert.
What We Require:
Education: Associates degree or Bachelors degree preferred.10 years equivalent experience in healthcare and education may be considered relevant.
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience educating adults, Creating of training materials, Knowledge and insight into the healthcare experience through payer constraints. Demonstrated knowledge of registration, medical terminology, insurance billing procedures including ICD-9 and CPT coding, team building, and employee development/coaching. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a diverse workgroup. Must have ability to deliver information to individuals with varying skill levels, and learning needs.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: At time of application must have EPIC proficiencies in ADT, PB and/or HB Billing and Cadence applications, SBO, Admin, and desire Certified Professional Coder with education background.
Other Minimum Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be a champion of change. Must be detailed oriented and exhibit strong communication and follow up skills. Overnight travel for education, go-live support, or training may be required. Dependable transportation required. Skill in adult education (responsible for training end users and other trainers). Strong interpersonal skills (responsible for motivating end users and other trainers). Strong organizational skills (responsible for coordinating training effort for the Billing and ADT Prelude applications).
