Basic Function:
Primary focus of this position is to manage the recruitment, selection and development initiatives for all non-exempt positions and MFG exempt positions. Provides employee relations support to the Asheville and Dallas facilities.
Significant Responsibilities:
Primary Focus:
Talent Acquisition - Treats talent acquisition as a significant corporate initiative and therefore thinks strategically about recruiting efforts and resources and makes continual improvements in growing a viable candidate pool.
• Oversees the job posting and applicant tracking processes which include: interfacing with temporary agencies and other recruiting resources; screening applicants and selecting viable candidates for further internal assessment; coordinating and scheduling selection activities; following up with all involved parties.
• Focuses on ways to shorten time-to-fill and to increase applicant quality.
• Represents the corporation at job fairs and other outside events as needed.
• Facilitates the regular review of recruiting resources to ensure we are reaching a diverse population.
• Manages the administrative tasks from pre to post offer including background screening and employment verifications.
• Ensures job descriptions are up to date and accurate.
Talent Development and Support
• Manages the HR onboarding process to engage new employees quickly and powerfully.
• Manages the training database of courses and employee training records.
• Assists supervisors and leaders on the manufacturing floor in enhanced training efforts and practices.
• Supports the administration of FMLA and time away from work policies.
• Promotes positive employee relations and serves as problem solver by responding to employees and management regarding policies, procedures and programs.
• Uses development opportunities as an engagement and retention tool.
As a member of the HR Team, also assists with:
Benefits Administration
• Assists with general benefits administration tasks including preparing communications, supporting open enrollment and serving as information source for employees.
General Administrative Support
• Serves as back-up support of HR Business Partner and HR Administrator.
• Maintains HR records and compiles reports from databases as needed (to include JJ Keller worker’s compensation incidents).
• Processes paperwork and documentation for the primary HR functions in an accurate and compliant manner.
• Assists with special projects.
• Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality. Provides excellent service to customers; builds strong relationships and team cohesiveness; focuses on quality and positive solutions; communicates respectfully; demonstrates compassion and understanding in response to customer request/needs.
• Champions OCC’s mission, vision and values (as detailed in our 15 Essential Points of Success ); complies with policies and procedures, ethical standards and Code of Conduct.
Job Scope:
Significant written and verbal communication is necessary to complete all assigned duties.
High level of confidentiality required for general ethics as well as compliance with laws and regulations.
High level of accountability relating to employment, OFCCP, SOX and ISO regulations and procedures.
Requires overnight travel to out-of-state facilities: 3-4 visits per year with more as needed for special projects.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: Associate degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
Experience: Two to four years human resources experience preferred with at least one year focused on non-exempt talent acquisition.
Licensure, Certification and/or Registration: None
Other Minimum Qualifications: HRIS and employment regulation experience/knowledge is desirable
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Excellent computer skills required with experience using software packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel. Ability to plan, layout, and execute projects involving many variables. Ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math skills and attention to detail with the ability to correctly complete all documentation is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills required with the demonstrated ability to express oneself clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships with others. Ability to work in a team environment. Complete assignments completely and accurately; recognize, record, and resolve problems. Able to organize, complete tasks and manage time.
Working Conditions:
This is a sedentary job which requires vision sufficient for computer use and reading, and requires an individual with hearing for interviewing employees and for significant telephone contact with current and perspective employees and vendors. Significant keyboarding. The analytical and personal communications nature of this work also requires an individual who possesses significant interactive communications skills.
