This is not an entry level position. Experience is a must and priority will be given to applicants with a year or more of previous veterinary experience.
Community Animal Hospital, in Dublin, VA has moved to a new location and we are growing! CAH now has an opening for a full time (32-40 hours) or part time (20-30 hours) veterinary assistant or veterinary technician. The applicant must apply their professional skills in anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, laboratory testing, patient nursing, and client education.
The applicant must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and maintain high standards of patient care, be able to communicate clearly with the doctors, other hospital personnel and clients to ensure that patients receive the care that they need.
Excellent client communication skills and a commitment to outstanding client service are essential.
Candidates will be asked to schedule a working interview where the following skill assessments may be performed:
· Patient handling and restraint
· Sample collection
· Fecal and urine specimen test prep
· Client education about pet husbandry
Licensed or license eligible candidates highly encouraged to apply.
Education and Essential Qualifications:
• LVT candidates must be graduates of an AVMA accredited training school or program or enrolled in an accredited program. (LVT candidates: please contact us about pay scale)
• Non-licensed, assisting candidates must have prior experience in a veterinary clinical setting and a basic understanding of pet care protocols.
• Basic computer literacy including the ability to type on a computer keyboard, use a computer mouse, and view information on a computer screen is required.
• Employees must have the physical strength and ability to lift and carry a pet or other object weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to assist in lifting patients or other objects weighing more than 50 pounds

• Proven prior veterinary assistant or technician experience is mandatory
