How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Develops, facilitates, and evaluates arts in healthcare programming to improve health outcomes, enhance patient experience, increase employee satisfaction, and reduce costs of healthcare delivery. Works closely with an Arts Advisory Board, which serves as a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure quality and appropriateness of programs. Collaborates and partners with departments across Carilion Clinic as well as local community organizations, academic institutions, and public school systems to bring a variety of literary, visual, and performing arts programs and events to hospitals and clinic locations. Recruits, supervises, and facilitates ongoing professional development for arts-based practitioners as well as Healing Arts Program interns and volunteers. Provides ongoing education and advocacy regarding arts in healthcare at Carilion Clinic and in the communities served by Carilion. Initiates research to institutionalize and model exemplary arts-based programming in a healthcare setting. Works with internal and external funding groups to gain and maintain program financial support.
• Financial Responsibility: Establishes budget that supports Carilion’s mission and uses financial and quantitative information effectively to manage expenses. Monitors and adjusts the budget and implements corrective action plans as necessary. Proactively manages cost containment activities.
• Supervision and Management: Works independently in collaboration with the Healing Arts Advisory Board and reports directly to the VP of Planning and Community Development. Facilitates the professional growth and development of the healing arts program. Role models service excellence behavior. Builds positive relationships with a variety of hospital staff and outside community groups. Communicates in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Productivity/Results: Creates an environment of continuous performance improvement where productivity and results are monitored and actions for improvement identified. Has accountability for program direction and yearly completion. Successfully meets established goals.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, healthcare, or arts related field. Master’s level or higher degree in arts and health field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years experience in business, marketing or related field. Minimum 3-5 years management experience. Background in program development, evaluation, and research preferred. Demonstrated customer service skills and knowledge.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Maintains licensure commensurate with clinical background and training.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Leadership, planning, organizational, marketing and budget management skills. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
