Job Summary Manages and coordinates all merchandising responsibilities throughout the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Responsibilities include purchasing and product selection, inventory control, tracking costs and revenues, auditing each location, and preparing daily deposits.
Essential Functions 1. Oversees all merchandising efforts throughout the CVB. Including the CVB Lobby, Visitor Information Center at Grapevine Main, Grapevine Vintage Railroad On-Board and Depot, Nash Farms, Festivals, and Palace/Lancaster Theater.
2. Performs regular and on-going inventory control procedures at all CVB locations including Grapevine Vintage Railroad TABC compliance.
3. Creates and utilizes wholesale buying methods to ensure most cost-effective purchasing of product.
4. Responsible for the coordination and branding of promotional items to ensure highest possible sales return.
5. Coordinates with CVB staff on the purchase of all special event merchandise.
6. Responsible for internal control audits and reconciliation of each merchandising location.
7. Researches promotional sales items at similar locations throughout the regions to incorporate local, national and international trends.
8. Responsible for purchasing and inventory promotional items for a variety of sales missions and FAMS on an annual basis.
9. Develops a complete working knowledge of Grapevine’s retailer experience including all of its attractions and amenities.
10. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
11. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
12. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Required Skills SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Must be able to ensure a timely and appropriate merchandising strategy for branded products promoting Grapevine as a leisure and group sales destination.
• Must be able to oversee multiple locations of retail sales including on-board beverage sales on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad (GVRR)
• Must be able to facilitate the coordination, development and production of branded products to promote Grapevine as a leisure and convention sales destination.
• Must be able to manage the coordination of multiple wholesale purchasing contracts.
• Ability to create or recognize high impact branded products that will result in increased sales and promotions.
• Must understand basic principles of merchandising, wholesale buying, inventory control systems, and cost of goods sold financial statements
• Ability to utilize POS procedures, methods and equipment including computer software.
• Must have outstanding organizational skills.
• Must be able to develop a complete working knowledge of Grapevine, including all of its attractions and amenities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Requires two years of college plus five years of experience in retail/ inventory or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Flexibility to work irregular hours/schedules and overnight travel.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.
