General Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:
Provides complete general maintenance services for all buildings associated with PCPS.
Essential duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Performs repairs to locks, latches, student and office furniture, window blinds, shades and curtains, floor and wall coverings, ceiling tiles, window panes, glass, fixtures, etc.
• Minor woodworking projects, such as building bookshelves, cabinets, tables, benches, etc.
• Assists maintenance personnel in completion of minor construction projects, building partitions, hanging doors, pouring concrete, etc.
• Expedites and occasionally procures equipment or material for maintenance projects and minor construction.
• Operates trucks and assists in loading, unloading, and material handling.
• Completes painting as needed in job related duties.
• Cleans and organizes storage areas, basements and attics.
• Assists contractors in finding and gaining access to facilities.
• Applies roof coatings and makes minor repairs minor on various types of roofing systems.
• Keeps daily time reports and completes service/work orders as assigned.
• Assists in routine preparatory and clean-up tasks required at work sites, which include, collecting and delivering tools and equipment, picking up requisitioned supplies, etc
• Complete a variety of standardized preventive maintenance tasks; such as: adjusting fan belts, tightening connections, cleaning and lubricating equipment, replacing and cleaning filters, adjusting valves, repairing faucets and light fixtures, replacing light bulbs, and unstopping plumbing.
• Assists in the preparation of surfaces for painting by mixing and applying plaster, primer, sealer, and paint as directed where skilled work is not required.
• Erects ladders and scaffolding.
• Participates in demolishing or removing old structures, broken glass and tiles.
• Assists with the cutting, sanding, and erecting/installing of structures made of wood, plywood, wall board, sheet metal, and other building materials.
• Assists in cutting, threading, and joining pipe, pulling electrical cable, and installing heating, ventilation and air conditioning ducts and related equipment and controls.
• Have ability to learn to make keys and cores as needed or directed.
• Performs other job related duties as needed or required.
• Snow removal. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Flexible, detail orientated, ability to multi task and work in a department whose priorities change quickly.

Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize, and prioritize work to meet ongoing deadlines. Ability to prioritize and complete assigned work orders without direct supervision. Ability to work well with others exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Willingness to learn and use interdepartmental computer programs such as Frontline, School Dude, and Forms Manager.
Level of Experience:
5 years or more of similar type work, preferred but not required
Salary: 2023-2024 General Maintenance Scale Hourly
