Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This position will assist with the administrative duties of our Undergraduate Program and REU summer program. The position will handle routine requests from Microbiology undergraduate majors regarding course offerings, clearing register, graduate checks, and research opportunities. Serve as undergraduate course sectioning officer. Maintain and update the undergraduate list serv and update departmental website. Manage the Microbiology Departmental Seminar series, assist in making travel arrangements for departmental guests and schedule appointments with faculty. Assist with the planning of the spring departmental undergraduate graduate ceremony, reception, and other departmental events.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, take initiative, work independently, and pay attention to detail. Experience with MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of general office equipment.

• Maintain the undergraduate majors listserv and distribute departmental announcements on the listserv.
• Update Undergraduate Program and REU information on departmental website.
• Assist students with requests for information regarding course offerings, registration, graduate checks, and research opportunities.
• Schedule and attend Undergraduate Affairs Committee meetings and record minutes.
• Assist Undergraduate Coordinator with yearly Student Learning Outcomes Assessment.

• Schedule Microbiology seminars and other invited departmental guests, such as faculty job candidates.
• Assist with travel arrangements for invited guests, schedule meetings with faculty members and work with the Franklin Business Services Center to process honoraria and travel reimbursement.
• Advertise department seminars using the departmental seminar list serve and maintain seminar information on department website.
