Advanced technical knowledge and understanding of our mechanical and Building Automation Systems ( BAS ) on campus.
Position Summary
This is a supervisory leadership position responsible for planning, supporting, and directing a wide variety of tasks related to the operations and maintenance of building and plant mechanical systems. This position will have five (5) shop managers that supervise multi-skilled trade teams responsible for repairing and upkeep of the electrical, plumbing, HVAC , and steam systems that provide building heat and cooling. Day-to-day operations of the organizational unit are largely carried out through the immediate shop managers who are charged with responsibility for specific areas of operation and with whom the superintendent confers with in coordinating the organizational needs. The position is also responsible for working with FMD Engineering, University Architects, and Project Maintenance for preliminary review and input on building and infrastructure mechanical plans for proposed HVAC upgrades and chilled-water and steam distribution systems. Work also includes preparation of reports and leading weekly meetings to identify and provide possible corrective actions to complex mechanical situations. Work is performed under the general direction of the assistant director and is reviewed primarily through the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, review of reports, and consultation.

• Able to walk, crawl, and climb for accessing mechanical rooms, roofs, and stairwells to portions of campus facilities as required
• Able to drive and operate after hours and at night for responding to campus emergency situations
• Able to sit for long hours at a desk throughout an 8-hour work day
