Program Coordinator, AmeriCorps Seniors
Job Overview and Requirements
The AmeriCorps Seniors Program Coordinator manages two unique national service opportunities for adults ages 55 and up, the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs. ACCA is looking for an outgoing leader to manage our dedicated volunteers and expand the program’s capacity by maintaining and building strong relationships with local school districts, senior centers, and other organizations across our NEGA service area.
About ACCA: Founded in 1967, our mission is to promote a lifetime of wellness through engagement, advocacy, education, and support. Serving northeast and east Georgia, ACCA is the nonprofit providing a comprehensive resource of expertise and opportunities for adults and families who need and desire the essentials to age and live well.
Our Core Values demonstrate our culture and our approach to engaging and serving our community. You can find them on our website here: www.accaging.org/about-us
AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs are funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Both programs provide adults age 55+ the opportunity to volunteer and earn an hourly stipend to off-set financial barriers to service. The Foster Grandparent Program matches volunteers with children who need extra support in the classroom. They mentor, tutor, and provide one-on-one support in Head Start programs, elementary schools, and after school programs across northeast Georgia. The Senior Companion Program pairs volunteers with older adults and individuals with disabilities who will benefit from regular visits and may need assistance with daily tasks such as light chores and errands. These volunteers serve in private homes, independent living communities, and adult day centers.
