On behalf of Student Financial Services and Madison House, we are recruiting several candidates to work as Graduate Fellows. Madison House is located at 170 Rugby Road Charlottesville Virginia 22903. This is an In-person position only.Madison House serves as the student volunteer center at the University of Virginia. We coordinate volunteers, develop leaders, build community partnerships, and promote lifelong volunteer service. Madison House organizes service programs to address the needs of the community as well as the educational and personal growth objectives of students.Madison House is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Communications2. Community Partnerships3. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice4. Leadership Development5. Program and Operations Management6. Animals and Environmental Services7. Education and Youth Services8. Human Services (Housing Inequity, Food Justice, Community Financial Services)9. Medical ServicesResponsibilities may also include the following:● Advising a select group of undergraduate Head Program Directors.● Supporting Head Program Directors, Community Engagement staff, and volunteers as needed.● Attending staff and Community Engagement meetings.● Idealizing and presenting workshops and sessions for Head Program Directors and Program Directors● Developing program-related materials.● Coordinating recruitment efforts/activities for Madison House Fair and UVA Activities Fair.● Liaising between Community Engagement, Communication, and Development staff when needed.The service programs of Madison House strive to achieve its mission through:● Cooperating with community organizations to meet the educational, service, companionship, and/or referral needsof community members.● Improving the quality and development of services through ongoing evaluation by community members, students,and the Board of Directors.● Empowering and training student leaders to recruit, train, match, and support student volunteers.● Encouraging students to make a weekly commitment to service.● Providing students with a meaningful volunteer experience that allows them to gain a greater perspective andunderstanding of the community and themselves.● Fostering the development of volunteer spirit, teamwork, civic participation, and empathy.Graduate Fellows will gain experience in managing 22+ large programs including over 3,000 volunteers. Fellows willgain experience in program logistics including planning events, content design, and evaluation. Madison House highlyvalues learning and an individual's professional and personal development. Once selected, Fellows will establish at leastthree goals they want to accomplish through their position, regardless of job description.Qualifications:● Interest in program management or leadership development● Interest in event planning and evaluation● Detail-oriented and highly organized● Self-directed learner● Positive attitude; must work well in a team● A graduate student at the University of VirginiaGraduate Fellow Schedule:Fellows serve approximately 15 hours per week based on the student’s schedule. Dates and times are flexible provided that they fall within operating hours (Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm).This position is a ten-month appointment for the 2023-2024 academic year at an hourly rate of $17.50.
