Job Duties
Are you a detail-oriented individual who likes to manage projects from post design to construction? If so, then this is the position for you! Culpeper Districtâs Structure and Bridge Section is seeking an individual to plan, organize, monitor, and direct work activities and resources to complete assigned bridge projects.
In this position, you will coordinate and communicate with VDOT and other engineering staff, local government, other agencies, and the Federal Highway Administration to provide high quality projects. Duties entail managing project scopes, monitoring, and maintaining budgets and applying project management philosophy to meet programmed objectives for multiple bridge projects. You will review construction plans to ensure they meet applicable design criteria, standards, and specifications. You will oversee assigned resources, ensure adequate staffing needs, and determine project team composition while providing leadership and oversight to project team to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of transportation project management and project engineering related to structure and bridge construction.
• Knowledge of bridge and roadway design criteria, construction methods, standards, specifications, and materials to include VDOT Road and Bridge specifications and standards.
• Skill in planning, coordination, and managing multiple projects under design, including ability to investigate and resolve design issues.
• Skill in project scheduling and budgeting practices, and experience developing maintenance and construction contracts.
• Required strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
• Skill in the use of VDOTâs Integrated Project Manager (IPM), MicroStation or other CADD programs, MS Project or similar scheduling software and MS Office applications.
• Valid driverâs license required.
Additional Considerations
• EIT or PE license
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent experience or training may substitute for a degree.
• Certification as Project Management Professional
• Experience in roadway project management and design.
