The Role:
The QS Micro Lab Leader position is responsible for ensuring the Micro Lab is compliant with internal & GMP best practices (from the FDA to US Pharmacopeia to Personal Care Products Council) & can be readily defended against audits. This position is equally responsible for timely microbial testing, product releases, & leading the Cincinnati manufacturing plant in Microbiology-matters. The Micro Lab leader will manage the assigned personnel in order to meet production needs.
What you will do:
• Ensuring that all facets of testing (from regular production to environmental sampling to the QS OTC-drug stability program) are procedurally compliant, timely, & personally supported when needed, including release of finished products & communicating any delays to internal customers.
• Supervise & mentor the Microbiology Lab personnel in professional development, technical knowledge, & standard operating procedures.
• Aiding in the creation & revision of QS procedures, while also leading the procedural training for QS.
• Leading validation, cost-saving, & troubleshooting activities related to the Microbiology Lab.
• Evaluate technical staff performance & write performance appraisals.
• Supporting the micro-initiatives of Cincinnati personnel, such as cleaning & sanitizing, while providing relevant micro information in a timely manner.
• Supervises a small team
• Direct the workforce to achieve the shift & departmental goals
What you will need:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology, or a related field.
• Highly qualified scientist with 5+ years of microbiology experience, preferably with supervisory experience in an FDA-regulated industry (personal care, OTC drug, or contract test facility).
• Ability to mentor the Micro lab on GMP best practices, as well as the ability to defend the lab against audits.
• Ability to cover any testing in the lab of responsibility. Has worked with all basic components of microbiology testing & can effectively mentor personnel with regards to this testing
• Must possess excellent communication, organization, multi-tasking, & prioritization skills, as well as the ability to influence & lead peers within QS & cross-functionally.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with Systems, Applications & Products (SAP) in Data Processing is a plus.
A reasonable pay range is $65,000 - $85,000
