Researcher - Veterinary Technician
Delivers executional excellence in Global Product Stewardship's Office for Animal Welfare, Biological Testing Facility, IACUC office, and Study Management Team. Performs a variety of procedural and experimentation tasks within a laboratory setting. Contributes to the planning and execution of a broad range of technical tests, summarizes these tests independently, and makes correlations to in-depth observations. Performs tasks associated with husbandry, room and equipment sanitization, animal welfare oversight, laboratory management, environmental monitoring, compliance monitoring, facility operations support, safety and security programs, and technical study support for in-vivo and in-vitro research programs.

Job Qualifications
+ AALAS certification at the ALAT or LAT level, A.S. in Animal Science or Veterinary Technology, be a licensed veterinary technician, or have equivalent experience. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in training related to the laboratory animal field and to demonstrate proficiency with in-vivo study-related tasks (drug administration, aseptic techniques, tissue sampling, grading of samples, animal welfare support). If AALAS certification has not yet been achieved, the candidate will be expected to complete certification requirements within 1 year.
+ Exhibit working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the research and safety environments (AAALAC, OECD, GLP) and follow SOP's in husbandry and sanitization. IACUC administrative experience is preferred.
+ Problem solve and trouble shoot facility systems, aquatic systems, function independently, and provide back-up support to facility operations.
+ Collaborate effectively with internal customers and interact in a productive and positive manner. Self-directed, flow to the work attitude, with flexibility to adjust priorities. Possess strong communication skills and detail-oriented documentation skills.
+ Ability to travel, up to 10%, to US-based contract research labs. Interest in learning various study placement procedures for non-clinical, pre-clinical, and in-vitro testing. In addition, will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment (e.g. cage washers, tunnel washers) and specialty equipment (e.g. automated samplers, light meters).
