Job Description
Operations
• Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates orientation programs for all levels of perioperative personnel in Surgery, PACU, SDS, PAT, and Surgi-Center. Monitors and documents progress of orientees.
• Collaborates with Education Specialist and management personnel to provide effective feedback to orientees and develop performance improvement plans.
• Conducts classroom training sessions as needed.
• Assists Education Specialist with coordination of clinical affiliations for nursing students.
• Collaborates with management personnel, and Specialty Resource Nurses to plan, implement, and evaluate educational needs of all levels of perioperative personnel in Surgery, PACU, SDS, PAT, and Surgi-Center.
• Collaborates with management personnel with selection of staff for preceptor roles and with clinical assignments of orientees/preceptors.
• Completes performance appraisals for orientees and provides collaborates with management personnel to provide input for employee performance appraisals.
• Maintains accurate and organized employee education records/files.

Qualifications
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
• BSN - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Licensed to practice nursing in the state where work is being performed
• Meets contact hour requirements for licensure including all state-required courses.
Certification
• Operating Room - CNOR within 1 year of hire date.
• Endoscopy - CGRN within 1 year of hire date.
• PACU - CSPAN within 1 year of hire date.
*Current associates are grandfathered effective 3/26/2017 and are required to become certified in assigned area by 3/26/2018.
• MSN-Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Specialized Knowledge:
• Expert knowledge of OR practice nursing procedures, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Knowledge of instructional methods.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Computer skills necessary to complete job duties.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated teaching ability.
Kind and Length of Experience:
• Minimum 5 years full-time experience in clinical care delivery in assigned area of responsibility (OR/PACU/SDS/PAT).
• Previous experience as an educator in area of responsibility OR/PACU/SDS/PAT.
