Role Overview
FiberLync is seeking a full-time Network Generalist
Role Description
• Provide day-to-day workstation support;
• Assist in setting-up and upgrading computers for end users;
• Provide troubleshooting for internet browsers, Microsoft Office 365, and other software applications;
• Maintain and troubleshoot network printers, network firewalls, network servers, telephone systems and other networked systems;
• Upgrade and maintain computer anti-virus on workstations to ensure data security and protection;
• Support and troubleshoot subscriber activations;
• Troubleshoot and maintain core provider network systems;
• Interface with 3rd party providers and vendors in support of ISP network;
• Manage administration of user accounts including Active Directory, email, and remote access, etc.;
• Perform regular installations and updates on hardware and software;
• Manage regular backup, storage, and retrieval of critical data;
• Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues;
• Provide end user application training as needed;
• Work together with other Technical Support personnel to find solutions to complex issues;
• Monitor IT systems for proper operation and working conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• 3-5 years of experience in Microsoft Windows Enterprise: Windows Server, Windows 10 & 11, Active Directory, Azure and Azure AD, Office 365;
• 3-5 years of experience in Cloud Computing: Azure, AWS, SaaS service;
• Linux – Distros: Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS;
• UTM (unified Threat Management) – Experience in one or more of the following: Fortinet, WatchGuard, Palo Alto, SonicWall;
• 3-5 years of experience in Network hardwire providers: Juniper, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, ADTRAN
• 3-5 years of experience in Protocols: DNS, TCP/IP (UDP), DHCP, ARP, BGP, OSPF, SFTP, SMTP, SNMP, SSH;
• 3-5 yeas of experience in Shells – CLI: PowerShell, Bash, Windows Terminal;
• Comfortable with multi-taking and prioritizing tasks with little or no guidance;
• Excellent communication skills both orally and written;
• Excellent time management and strong organizational skills;
• Punctual with a strong attendance history.
Education and Experience
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or comparable certifications coupled with experience.
Special Requirements
• Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license or valid drivers’ license from another US state with the ability to obtain a Virginia driver’s license within the first 3 months of employment, and an acceptable driving record;
• May require periodic work beyond normal work schedule;
• Designated as Essential Staff;
• Subject to pre-employment criminal background check.
