Description:GameStop in Grapevine, TX is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to support the Refurbishment Operation Center (ROC) in process and continuous improvement activities. The Process Engineering Intern will ensure existing manufacturing/repair processes adhere to best practices and consider new processes and equipment for improvement. The processes include the refurbishment of a variety of consumer electronics products that are processed by the Refurbishment Operations Center. The role encompasses from development of concepts through the execution of solutions.Basic Qualifications and Required SkillsCurrently Enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree program with a major in engineering or related fieldDegree(s) Preferred: Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics or related fields.Understanding of Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement processesProficiency in a Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Visio) softwareExcellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude of problem solving.Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment.Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision.Ability to work 10 weeks during the summer break and potentially 20 hours +/- during school year.Desired Skills and ExperiencePrevious working experience in a manufacturing/ production environmentExperience in the use of Lean tools and principles such as Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Value Stream Mapping (VSM).Mechanical ability or background is preferred for working directly with manufacturing and fabrication tools, jigs, and equipment.CAD Skills (3D and/or 2D)Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork with engineering staff and repair technicians to gain an understanding of the daily challenges on the production floor and to integrate new technologies and update existing systems.Use Engineering and Lean principles to establish current state and develop future state plans.Identify, evaluate, and recommend cost saving opportunities by identifying process, quality and safety related improvement projects.Implement lean manufacturing tools on the production floor. Perform time studies, calculate cycle time, and develop basic manufacturing flow and capacity plans.Analyze and design sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficiencies.Review and audit standard work documents and work instructions to standardize processes across operations and between shifts.Support facility layout and design, equipment relocation, and layout optimization projectsRecommend workflow, equipment, or other changes based on analysis to improve material flow, storage & processing capacity, cycle time, and productivity.Collaborate with multiple internal departments and interface with various levels of employees & management to complete tasks.Presentation/Report on an improvement project at the end of internship.
