Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer/Subject Matter Expert (“Infrastructure Engineer/SME)") to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). The CAEIO Program provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.
Overview
Using a holistic approach, the Infrastructure Engineer/SME designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
CAEIO-Specific Responsibilities
The Infrastructure Engineer/SME is a thought leader and hands-on engineer working with a team that has broad responsibility for infrastructure operations and systems administration of platforms installed globally supporting all CAEIO systems and services. The Infrastructure Engineer/SME :
• Ensures the operation of the enterprise meets defined infrastructure service levels and serves as the service owner for infrastructure service solutions.
• Supports operations and technical teams at multiple geographically dispersed data centers comprised of varied infrastructure, including converged server/storage solutions, at the domestic consular offices and overseas posts.
• Engineers solutions that optimize, standardize, and improve storage solutions, including facilitating eventual migrations to cloud environments.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• US Citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance
• A minimum of five years of experience in a role whose resposibilities are the same or similar to those defined for this position.
• At least one year of experience in a similar role supporting the U.S. Department of State.
Desired Qualifciations
• A minimum of three years of experience leading teams that provide full-lifecycle project support, as well as operational support, for Windows and Linux based systems.
• A minimum of three years of experience leading projects in the MS SQL and Oracle database server environment.
• A minimum of five years of experience supporting Data Center Operations including supporting/troubleshooting server farms, networking equipment and connections, and storage solutions, (e.g., Cisco Routers and Switches, Firewalls, and Netapp/Dell EMC)
Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree and 12-15 years of experience; Master's degree and 10-13 years of experience; PhD and 10+ years of experience.

Target Salary Range
$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
