Job Description
Come join our Amazing team at the Grant Lab! This position is 36 hours weekly working 12-hour shifts, 3rd shift, and is eligible for our excellent total rewards package! In addition, we offer $4 shift differential and a 3rd shift bonus of $8,000 with a 2-year work agreement which is renewable every two years!
• MT/MLT/MLS/CLS Generalist (Chemistry, Hematology, Coag, Urinalysis, Emergency Issue)
St. Elizabeth - Grant County is part of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare system in Northern KY. The St. Elizabeth Grant Laboratory is well-run Limited Services lab supporting an MMU and Emergency Department. This hometown hospital provides a variety of services to the community such as Oncology, Cardiac Rehab, Breast Center, Gastroenterology, Imaging, Physical Therapy, Pulmonary Rehab, Skilled Nursing, Sleep Center, and Wound Care to name a few. Our laboratory provides chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, limited micro, and emergency issue services.
Applicants must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to be part of a caring team. Applicants must be able to perform a variety of duties independently, effectively and efficiently, always striving for excellent results while troubleshooting specimen results, addressing technical concerns, and instrument errors. Associate must be willing to flex to other locations should the occasional need arise.
The lab utilizes state-of-the art equipment consisting of the Roche 501, Roche e411, Roche Liat, Radiometer ABL90 Flex Plus x2, Piccolo, iSED, Instrumentation Laboratory ACL TOP350 and TOP300, Sysmex XN550 and XN350, and Cellavision.

Job Description:
• Understands all principle(s) involved in assigned procedures and applies this knowledge to the clinical situation or outcomes in clinical diagnosis management of the patient. (See department competency sheet.) Must be able to determine if specimen integrity issues, patient medication(s), other interfering substances that could affect patient testing results.
• Operates, troubleshoots and maintains laboratory equipment, supplies; and performs procedures to ensure high quality, accurate and cost effective results in all areas of the laboratory.
• Ensures accuracy of testing per manufacturer's guidelines and all applicable regulation. Interfaces with Hot Lines and service personnel to oversee proper functionality and repair of instruments.
• Reports results within time limits established for procedures, reports results for STAT, critical values and other categories as defined by Laboratory policy.
• Records patient data and other information quickly and accurately in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS) to ensure appropriate turnaround time and effective retrieval of patient testing results.
• Collects and/or processes specimens according to laboratory policies and procedures for timely and accurate testing.
• Performs and documents quality control as specified for each procedure meeting established internal and regulatory guidelines, accurately analyzes quality control results obtained before accepting and reporting patient testing results. Follow policies and procedures whenever tests systems are not within established acceptable levels. Notifies Supervisor or designee of discrepant quality control results

Qualifications:
Education, Credentials, Licenses:
Baccalaureate Degree in a Biological Science with completion of a NAACLS approved Medical Technology program along with certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency
OR
Baccalaureate Degree in a Biological Science with completion of a NAACLS approved Medical Technology program along with ASCP Certification (or Equivalent)
OR
CLIA '88 Equivalent ( HEW/HHS Certification)
OR
Registry Eligible - Baccalaureate Degree in a Biological Science and have completed a NAACLS accredited MT/CLS program AND be certified within a year of eligibility or be certified one year from date of hire.
Registry Eligible for a Section Certification - must have a Baccalaureate Degree with a minimum of five-years technical experience in ONE of the Clinical Areas of the Laboratory.
Kind and Length of Experience:
Minimum of 6-12 month of clinical internship as part of an approved MLS Training Program.
