The Opportunity
The Business Line Risk (BLR) Manager functions as an operational risk leader for the execution of critical enterprise risk management methodologies. Mortgage business line includes Strategy and Portfolio Management, Product, Analytics, Servicing Oversight, Pricing, and DTC Originations Oversight. This position is responsible for collaborating with the entire Business Line, Independent Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, and Functional Support Partner Sr. Directors.
Position will lead execution of an Issue Management Program, Regulatory Change Management, Licensing Oversight, Management of Risk Appetite Framework and Key Risk Indicators. Additionally, this role may also perform or support all other BL Risk activities. While this position is an independent contributor, the level of responsibility requires an ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams involving Sr. Leaders in the execution of the Mortgage business operational risk activities. This person will require strong risk management skills as well as proven written and verbal communication skills.
The Work Itself
Lead and manage business line risk activities to ensure operational risk programs and routines are executed accurately and timely.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Lead Regulatory Change Management Impact Assessments and Response Plans through close collaboration with Compliance, Business Process Owners, third party suppliers, and Legal to ensure timely and accurate execution.
• Lead the Issue Management Program across the LOB, including: leading cross-functional management meetings with Issue Owners (Sr. Directors) to lead all activities around clear Issue Definition, solid Action Planning, timely Status Updates, accurate Management Assertion of Issue Resolution are all completed within policy guidelines or action plan time lines (including: review action plan completion to ensure all artifacts are appropriate and justify issue closure.)
• Directly Report out to the BL Executive and Sr. Directors on all Regulatory Change and Issue Management activities
• As necessary coordinate Internal Audits for Mortgage. Specifically ensure that all meeting routines and material requests are fully completed and provided timely.
• As necessary lead Scenario Analysis across Mortgage by coordinating with Sr. Management and Business Functional support (IT, Finance). Present out to Mortgage Leadership.
• Build and manage Mortgage Business Continuity/Resumption Plans are established and well thought out end to end. Ensure all plans are fully and accurately updated in ERM applications.
• Perform other activities as required.
The Skills You Bring
• Bachelor Degree
• 5+years operational risk experience
• 3+years experience in related Mortgage discipline (Servicing, Origination, Risk)
• Project Management/Six sigma skills or certification a plus
• High level of interpersonal skills.
• High level of written and oral communication skills as well as attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
• Ability to function effectively in a matrix organization.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and to take initiative.
