Responsibilities
The Registered Dietitian will provide education, counseling, and Medical Nutrition therapy and care to patients, residents and clients in their specific department or area of accountability both individually and in groups. This is done via assessment, development, implementation, documentation, and monitoring of nutrition care plans. Identify, develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate educational programs to patients, health care providers, and the community. Functions as an integral part of the collaborative interdisciplinary health care team. The Registered Dietitian also serves as a nutrition resource for the patient, health care team and community and assures that the delivery of high quality nutrition care is provided.
The Registered Dietitian at the Weight Management Center responsibilities include assessing and educating pre-op patients regarding weight loss and how to manage their diets after surgery. The Registered Dietitian assesses and treats post-op patients for nutritional deficiencies, while helping them to safely maximize their weight loss. The Registered Dietitian also serves a resource within the community, providing education to other healthcare providers and community groups, as needed. The Responsibility and Accountability 'meets standards' when:
(1) Patient assessment of the nutritional status, willingness to learn and make changes, and barriers that may interfere with the patient's ability to be successful with the prescribed dietary changes and supplement use.
(2) Documents assessment of nutritional status in the patient's electronic health record. Assessment includes any significant information such as abnormal lab values, weight loss or gain, drug/nutrient interactions.
(3) Documents subjective assessment of patient's willingness to learn and make changes based on patient's comments during session and completion of assigned tasks.
(4) Assesses and documents any barriers to success, such as difficulty with reading and writing, and financial or social concerns.
(5) Communicates any concerns to the appropriate team members.
(6) If Applicable: supports exercise physiology component of the WLS & WC. This requires an educational background in kinesiology or exercise physiology

• 4 year/Bachelor's Degree
Experience
• Relevant Experience
Certification and Licensure
• BLS Certification
• Commission on Dietetic Registration Registered Dietician
• CPR Certification
• Licensed Dietitian-Nutritionist-Pennsylvania
• Eligible for PA Licensure may be accepted in lieu of actual license; PA Dietitian-Nutritionist Licensure required within 120 days of employment
• Certified Personal Trainer through NASM if applicable
