Job Description
Manage and direct project, maintenance, and set-up activities throughout the Morgantown site.  Accept responsibility for completion of assigned projects; including project planning, development of work instructions, acquisition of materials, and coordination of manpower. Over-all responsibilities include quality, timeliness, and functional testing of work performed.
• Lead, train, supervise, evaluate, and coach assigned maintenance personnel.
• Assist Engineer(s) and Manager(s) with project planning and contractor supervision on major new equipment installation projects (such as new furnaces, major modifications, upgrades, re-build etc.)
• Participate on various types of teams as required.
• Responsible for coordination of reliability improvement, productivity improvement, quality improvement, and process development projects as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Recommend, oversee, and review modifications as needed and recognized.
• Coordinate and supervise repairs using qualified personnel. Schedule / supervise repairs to the various melt shop equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities of equipment to minimize the possibility of unscheduled failures and to optimize the frequency of these activities.
• Review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and determine/evaluate corrective action items and the impact of corrective action items to the preventive maintenance programs.
• Ensure adequate supplies of spare parts are available to maintain the melting operations.
• Assists the Maintenance Manager in developing short-term & long-term goals, for the Production, Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement success of the site.
• Maintain the equipment mechanical and electrical prints.
• Recommend modifications to improve reliability, quality and productivity of the site equipment.  Oversee modifications as authorized.  Work with engineering and management to develop solutions to recurring problems.  Follow solutions and modifications through to installation.  Evaluate effectiveness of actions.
• Oversee the development of standard operating and manufacturing procedures.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement to processes, equipment and maintenance.
• Develop and work to budgets to achieve cost management goals, and initiate or participate in cost reduction and/or profit improvement programs.
• Assist in problem solving for unplanned downtime.
• Issue reports documenting operational performance, achievements, projects, training and maintenance work.
• Accept weekend and holiday assignments as required.
• Be willing and able to travel (typically less than 10%).
• Effectively communicate company and department goals, achievements, problems, solutions, practices, changes, and policies.  Encourage positive communication.  Enforce all company policies, rules and regulations.
• Constantly be proactive in minimizing accidents.
• Conduct all operations in a safe and clean environment.  Enforce all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain high ethical standards and integrity.  Conduct all operations in a professional and businesslike manner.
• Maintain a program of professional growth through selected seminars, courses, trade magazines, books, journals, etc.
Education and Experience
• Minimum High School diploma
• Trade school and/or relevant experience preferred
• 6+ years of increasing responsibilities including supervisory experience within an industrial manufacturing organization.
• Strong mechanical aptitude required.
• Strong leadership skills; demonstrated competency in the supervisory and technical skills required to fulfill the position’s responsibilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with overtime as required; ability and willingness to participate in management coverage on weekends and holidays.
• Ability to operate independently and use time efficiently/effectively.
• Knowledge of TIG welding copper, stainless and mild steels.
• Knowledge of MIG welding.
• Experience and competence to plan and supervise projects and assignments from conception to completion.
• Heavy rigging, piping, and mechanical assembly experience.
• Effective communication skills.
