The successful candidate will possess knowledge of and experience with machining capabilities, metal fabrication, and assembly design. The Engineering Technician 3 will interface with numerous departments and will directly support cross-campus collaboration. Working at Northrop Grumman means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility, and reshaping the world we live in.Job Description and Qualifications:Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.Roles and Responsibilities:Provides technical support to the factory floor as well as engineering teams. Collaborates on manufacturability, providing feedback on capabilities and processes.Interfaces with cross-campus teams in a professional manner Develops estimates and proposals for sub and final assemblies.Champions first-time-builds within manufacturing.Provides tactile build support; operates machining and assembly equipment.Establishes manufacturing methods through process and documentation development.Conducts experimental projects driving innovation and technological advancement.Inspects parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators.Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements.Accurately and regularly performs statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.Actively implements lean initiatives by identifying and providing recommendations on areas for improvement, effectively applying lean concepts and tools in work area.Observes all company policies and procedures, including safety rules, and maintains a clean and orderly work area.Performs other related responsibilities as requested.Basic Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent with 4 years additional education and/or related experience.Reads and follows blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.Has working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.Able to make advanced machine setups and understands machining capabilities.Familiar with sub and final assembly build structure.Knowledge of lean initiativesDemonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.Preferred Qualifications:CMM experienceExperience with Model Based EngineeringDemonstrated proficiency using Master CamProgram fixturing using conversational controller.Knowledge of GD&T standardsEstimating experienceProficient at sheet metal workSalary Range: $53,300.00 - $88,800.00Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
