Full Job Description Description:
Jefferson Center seeks a Patron Services Manager who will lead our efforts in event and performance rentals, part-time staff management, and bar supervision. Nonprofit arts experience a plus, sales and event management experience preferred, and Bachelor's degree preferred. This position requires evening and weekend hours. Interested candidates must apply by July 1st. Salary ranges $45,000-$50,000 depending on experience. EOE.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Secure, schedule and manage all rentals building rentals (including Shaftman Performance Hall, Fitzpatrick Hall, LL Rice Room, Training Theatre, Fralin Atrium).
• Oversee and manage the contracts and invoicing rental clients in coordination with Finance Department.
• Develop and manage annual operating budget and inform strategic planning and goals.
• Supervise and ensure the training, development and quality of work for all front of house positions, including recommendations for hire, preparation of annual goals, staff development, performance reviews, work assignments, recommendations for promotions, merit compensation increases and termination. Schedule and coordinate requests for leave for direct report staff.
• Build seating charts for each event in coordination with promoter, programming director, and/or technical director.
• Provide reporting to Artistic Director for rentals for settlement purposes, including tickets sales, staffing hours for box office, FOH, bar, and parking.
• Administer and maintain rental scheduling software.
• Schedule adequate staffing for all events including house managers, bartenders, and parking attendants; supervise all front-of-house functions including house managers, ticket takers and ushers. Provides event information to front of house staff in order for them to conduct meetings prior to all performances to further the volunteer’s knowledge and skills and to apprise ushers of all pertinent show-related information, discussing current and past problems and issues, wheelchair locations, and theater policy.
• Coordinate with Production Manager/Technical Director all front-of-house details, including crowd management, house opening, intermissions and any and all front-of-house needs required by backstage personnel.
• Coordinate with Production Manager for any Shaftman Performance Hall (or other) rental that includes additional venues throughout Jefferson Center.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to manage and supervise employees and volunteers.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work, while managing multiple deadlines.
• Ability to give and receive information by telephone and in person.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with volunteers, vendors, peers, supervisors, subordinates, and board/committee members.
• Ability to use computerized word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail with proficiency.
• Ability to use specialized ticketing software with proficiency.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to use sound judgment in decision-making, and to work independently.
• Extensive knowledge of general box office practices and principles.
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of three years work experience in sales, performance venues, or customer service, preferably in non-profit environment.
• Minimum of one years supervisory experience.
