Associated Asphalt Overview:
Associated Asphalt, supported by capital commitments from ArcLight Capital Partners, manages one of the largest supply, marketing and asphalt logistics platforms in North America. The Company’s asset network includes 30 terminals from Florida to New York, two Jones Act barges, multiple polymer modified asphalt and emulsion manufacturing facilities, and a fleet of trucks and trailers. Associated Asphalt’s expansive rail network and marine-capable terminals provide the opportunity for the Company to receive asphalt from both domestic and international refineries.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position works closely with Associated Asphalt’s corporate executive and operational business leaders to identify and develop strategic growth priorities, evaluate capital deployment alternatives, and identify and execute M&A and asset sale transactions. Additionally, the person will take ownership of certain priorities currently executed by the CFO. This is a high-profile and challenging role with significant senior executive exposure. The ideal candidate enjoys analyzing complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Identify areas of growth within the business, develop growth strategies, and provide supporting analytics of the financial impact from execution of such strategies
• Identify and analyze new investment opportunities, acquisition targets, asset divestitures, and development projects in alignment with the Company’s strategic plan
• Formulate and present transaction proposals to the senior executive team that include a thorough evaluation of the strategic rationale, risks, valuation, and financial return metrics
• Conduct cost savings initiatives; proactively diligence existing leases
• Spearhead special projects
• Participate in various corporate finance initiatives
• Develop and maintain relationships with individuals and key stakeholders across the company to ensure open lines of communication and assistance for data and insights when evaluating strategic opportunities
• Support development of ad hoc senior executive and board of director presentations
Qualifications:
• MBA preferred but not required
• Transaction execution and valuation experience required
• Self-starter with an ability to work independently within tight timelines
• 5+ years related work experience including investment banking, corporate development, private equity, strategy consulting or Big 4 transaction services
• Strong mathematical, analytical, project management, and problem solving skills
• Detail oriented with the ability to think critically in solving complex issues
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; outstanding interpersonal skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Relocation to Roanoke, Virginia preferred (relocation package provided); potential for hybrid structure
Physical Requirements:
• Able to sit, stand, kneel, bend, stoop or reach as required in office environment
• Able to lift up to 10 lbs, as needed
• Willing and able to travel for business, as needed; travel expectancy is minimal
