Summary:
Wurth Wood Group is a leading supplier of Hardwood Lumber, Plywood, Molding, Cabinet Hardware/Supplies, Laminate, and Building Supplies, and we are seeking an experienced Transportation Specialist for the Roanoke branch. The ideal candidate is a hard-working, organized, self-directed, and highly customer service oriented based individual who is dedicated to helping expand the Wurth Wood Group good name. Position Summary:
The Transportation Specialist will be required to interact and service our customers and service providers, to ensure a safe and proper delivery of product. The Transportation Specialist should provide the best in class customer service and work as a team with warehouse personnel to ensure all product is delivered in a timely manner. The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for driving a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) and therefore responsible for maintaining an up-to-date CDL license.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
• Drive a CMV (commercial motor vehicle) to deliver the product within the local route assigned.
• Operating a CMV in different conditions (e.g., highway driving, side/local roads, city/country as well as tight loading and unloading positions.
• Must be able to be forklift certified.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks and maintain the cleanliness of vehicles and other areas as instructed.
• Prepare, process, and maintain all necessary transportation documentation & information – both in and out of various operating systems – required for DOT compliance.
• Develop strong interaction, in and amongst customers, service providers, and the internal team to ensure fluid, efficient movement of product.
• Secure proof of delivery by using a supplied (EPOD) Electronic Proof of Delivery device.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a timely manner through collaboration with the Operations manager and sales team.
• Comply with all applicable safety, transportation regulations, and company policies.
• Responsible for maintaining Quality and Safety awareness.
