How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
The Occupational Health and Wellness Sales Manager develops the sales and business of occupational health (OH) and wellness services including business partnerships, marketing OH and wellness services and identifying opportunities that support Carilion’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
The OH and Wellness Sales Manager’s primary function is to generate revenue through the sale and service of OH services & products to employers by identifying new business opportunities along with growing existing client business within the assigned footprint.
• Utilizes working knowledge of requirements, standards, protocols, and processes for the occupational health (OH) and wellness services including substance abuse testing, OSHA compliance, work physicals, surveillance monitoring and worker’s compensation injury care.
• Seeks opportunities to increase business from existing accounts such as wellness events, flu shots, and onsite services. Cultivates relationships with clients and is a liaison between clients and clinic staff. Discerns client needs, often, before the clients realizes the need exists and recommends products.
• Researches potential clients and identifies prospects in industries with high propensity to utilize OH and wellness services. Tracks leads, establishes a sales pipeline, and schedules status checks with accounts in Carilion’s footprint.
• Contacts clients to update or add new services; via direct sales to companies by mailing marketing materials, telephone soliciting, cold calling in person and appointment setting with key personnel.
• Works with key stakeholders in the business community to educate them on Carilion’s mission and offerings aimed at supporting OH and wellness.
• Follows up with accounts on a regular basis to help resolve specific employer issues, for account management and retention purposes. Verifies and updates client accounts per requested account changes, added services, including billing or pricing changes. Responds and addresses client questions on services and forms including onsite contract agreements.
• Tailors marketing approaches to a diverse market of clients in the Carilion Clinic footprint. When appropriate, partners with Marketing & Communications to build digital and print campaigns to generate new business.
• Manages and is point of contact for RFPs. Coordinates internal responses/contributions from internal stakeholders (including physicians, executives, and service line team members) to offer a compelling package that addresses clients’ needs.
• Provides feedback to internal stakeholders to identify new program/service opportunities that address the needs of the identified footprint.
• Collaborates with other industry specialists to identify industry trends in client needs to facilitate growth in Carilion’s OH and wellness service lines.
What We Require:
Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a background in health care/administration, OH, or Environmental Health and Safety.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in the Environmental Health and Safety field required. Background in OH sales required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certification in Occupational Health and Safety preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of theories and principles of community health and community health promotion preferred. Extensive knowledge of workers’ compensation, OSHA recordkeeping guidelines and other OH employer services. Experience developing partnerships with local organizations and service providers. Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse backgrounds, life experiences and abilities. Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent verbal/phone and written communication skills required. Ability to prioritize and deal with numerous tasks at one time; self-starter with the ability to work independently and achieve productivity goals; typing and computer skills required, including Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word and Excel); ability to work flexible hours as needed.
