General Description:
The Fixed Asset and Plant Accountant is a position that will allow the selected candidate the opportunity to be exposed to various competencies within the organization. The Fixed Asset and Plant Accountant supports the overall objectives of the global finance and accounting located in Roanoke, VA. The position provides clerical support in acquiring, tracking, controlling, disposing and reporting of fixed assets, recording depreciation, compiling data from our various asphalt plants. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, have the ability to learn various accounting applications and participate in implementation of new technology.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Adhere to guidelines for acquisition, maintenance, retention and disposition of fixed asset and
associated records.
Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets.
Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary level account in the general ledger.
Prepare reports for DMV, IFTA and governmental agencies as needed.
Record field data, post transactions and adjustments in ERP.
Prepare property tax returns.
Deposit customer checks through remote deposit system.
Create and update spreadsheets for various projects and accounting functions.
Process incoming data from asphalt plants and manage transfer to ERP; prepare material sales invoices.
Manage fuel card and shop fuel programs.
Provide excellent customer service to customers, internal and external - answering questions, providing information, making referrals and assuring appropriate follow-up.
Various other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
2 years of related experience – construction experience a plus; Experience with ERP or accounting softwarepreferred.
Must be strong and proficient with Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel and Word.
Be able to comprehend and follow instructions and be able to multi-task.
Perform complex and repetitive tasks.
Maintain a fast work pace and high-volume work load.
Be a strong team player and able to take initiative on projects.
Exceptional organizational skills to effectively coordinate and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner.
