Job Description
*Good Samaritan Hospice *is seeking a full-time *HR Generalist *for its Roanoke based operations. This position will be part of the HR team that provides services and support to all team members with a focus on recruitment and selection.
*Duties/Responsibilities:*
* Provides day-to-day assistance in all aspects of human resources.
* Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
* Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
* Maintains all employee files and applicant documentation as dictated by governing agencies.
* Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with HR training, continuing education, and work assessments.
* Develops new or revises policies, procedures, and job descriptions, as needed and/or requested.
* Administers human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; safety; and training and development.
* Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
* Coordinates special projects and events, as requested.
* Assists with verifications of employment and unemployment notices, and attends unemployment hearings when necessary.
* Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
* Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Proficient with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
*Education and Experience:*
* Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
* At least three years of human resource generalist experience required.
* HR certification a plus.
