GENERAL DESCRIPTION This position helps facilitate positive experiences for guests at Explore Park through customer service oriented tasks including guest services, vendor relations, administrative support, and light maintenance/housekeeping tasks in both indoor and outdoor settings in support of park operations. Does related work as required.
Must be available to work 9:00AM - 4:00PM, with varying shifts throughout the week/weekend.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Performs customer service duties at the visitor center
• Serves as a point of contact and provides support for special events
• Assists with volunteer projects as needed
• Provides program support as needed
• Provides administrative support as needed
• Serves as point of contact for park guests and private vendors providing assistance as needed
• Inspects park roads, trails, and facilities to identify maintenance needs to ensure the safety and security of guests
• Performs basic maintenance and housekeeping of facilities and equipment
• Maintains records and prepares reports
REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES Education
Required : Graduation from high school or equivalent
Preferred : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major course work in recreation or related field, or equivalent experience and education
Experience
Required : Experience working independently to accomplish a diverse variety of tasks
Preferred : Experience working in customer service
Certifications/ Licenses
Valid Virginia driver's license with a good driving record
Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED or ability to obtain

• Ability to effectively interact with park guests and provide support as needed
• Ability to effectively interact with private vendors and provide support as needed
• Ability to evaluate situations and determine the appropriate response/action
• Ability to maintain working relationships with coworkers, vendors, volunteer groups and guests

• Ability to perform a variety of routine clerical tasks including accurate recordkeeping and reporting

• Ability to adapt to constantly changing circumstances in regards to work site, weather, business volume, administrative demands, customer needs and emergency situations
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors as needed to accomplish assigned tasks
• Ability to use a computer and typical software programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Ability to learn new software programs as needed
• Ability to operate golf carts, pick-up trucks, off road utility vehicles and trailers
• General knowledge in the use and care of common hand tools
• Basic knowledge of standard safety procedures when working with power equipment
• Ability to walk/bike multiple miles of trails, report conditions and coordinate maintenance
• Ability to work in close proximity with wildlife
Additional Requirements:
Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results.  Following a conditional offer of employment, must pass a post offer physical examination. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description. Must be comfortable working in the woods after dark.  Must be willing to work a flexible schedule mostly nights, weekends and some holidays.
