Knowledge and understanding of specific needs of underserved populations and a commitment to helping these individuals attain educational success are critical responsibilities of our institution.Position Description: Patrick & Henry Community College is seeking an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education ( ACCE ) for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. The ACCE holds a faculty position and is responsible for the academic, clinical, administrative, and service responsibilities consistent with the PTA program and the college. The PTA faculty member demonstrates competence in clinical education, teaching and curriculum development. Participate in professional development activities, academic advising, and divisional, departmental, program and committee meetings as assigned. Teaching includes 30 credit hours per year, teaching day, evening, weekend, off-campus and distance learning course as assigned. Performance of other duties as assigned. The primary responsibilities of the ACCE are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty. This includes serving as a liaison between the program and clinical facilities, selection and evaluation of clinical education sites and ongoing clinical instructor development and communication with clinical faculty.****Special Notes: Finalists will be required to present a sample teaching lesson; topic will be assigned. Candidates must be willing to provide evidence of immunizations for clinical participation. Transcripts are required as part of the application process for any college coursework. If you do not provide unofficial or official transcripts of undergraduate and graduate course work you will be disqualified. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications Current staffing requires a physical therapist for this position. Professional degree as a physical therapist. Currently licensed as a PT in any United States jurisdiction, eligible for licensure in Virginia. Minimum of 3 years of full time (or equivalent) post licensure clinical practice as a physical therapist. Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice as a CCCE and/or CI or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PT or PTA program. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to analyze problems and work independently to solve problems . Preferred Qualifications Prior teaching experience in a physical therapist assistant/physical therapist academic program or equivalent coursework. Knowledge of education, management, and adult learning theories and principles.
