Description
POSITION INFORMATION
Under the direct supervision of the Body Shop Manager, body technicians restore damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. Uses hand tools and power tools to remove or repair damaged parts, weld as needed, and properly install new parts. Works with a variety of metals, fiberglass, and plastics, as well as glass, electrical, and mechanical parts. Damaged vehicles must be repaired correctly so they will perform as designed, especially in subsequent collisions.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform general job qualifications as outlined in the technician pay sheets based on the technician skill level
• Performs automotive body and related repairs
• Removes, installs, adjusts, and aligns body components
• Documents all repair and maintenance actions on work orders
• Ensures vehicle security and safety while in shop
• Provides written estimates of repair/supplement when requested
• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Receive repair orders from Shop Manager and take to stall area
• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Ensure that customers’ vehicles are kept clean, undamaged, and without changes to the comfort, convenience systems or audio system settings
• Notifies Shop Manager immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle
• Understand, keep up to date, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations such as; safety rules and procedures, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
• Wear appropriate PPE, including regular use of company provided safety goggles
• Appropriately and safely operate all tools and equipment as mandated through safety training
• Report any safety, equipment defects or malfunction issues to management immediately
• Attend all dealership and service department meetings when requested
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Receive repair orders from Shop Manager and take to stall area
• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair

Qualifications
• High school degree or the equivalent
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
• General mechanical skills
• Previous experience with Procede preferred
• Valid driver’s license with minimum of a Class B CDL and good driving record
• Manual dexterity
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a physically demanding position.  Will stand eight or so hours per shift.  Will lift parts weighing in excess of 70 pounds several times during each shift and use hoist and test equipment as needed.  They will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel.  They will use hand and power tools.  Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.  Road-testing of vehicles may be required.  The technician will be required to wear a dealership uniform when working at all times.
