Job Description Job Duties Operations Total Joint Replacement Coordinator Plans, organizes, implements, and coordinates the TJR Program activities. Collaborates with Nurse Manager of the Inpatient Orthopedic Unit, Edgewood, Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Department, and inpatient and outpatient Nursing and Professional Services Directors and Managers to ensure consistency in program practices. Functions as a liaison between the TJR program, vendors, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members. Facilitates care coordination and throughput of TJR patients. Monitors and evaluates the TJR Program and initiatives to support program growth, including collaborating with Marketing. Provides monthly/quarterly and annual program updates. Clinical Education Specialist Interacts with staff in order to maintain knowledge of workflow, complete leadership rounds, assess clinical and education needs, and provide education on unit. Develops unit plan to enhance education and unit competencies. Oversees planning and implementation of specialty/unit specific education including skills days. Collaborates with unit managers to assist in maintaining competency record keeping. Assists with establishing, implementing and evaluating program goals consistent with SEH's mission, values, and strategic plan. Develops, reviews, and updates program/unit specific policies and procedures. Orients new staff to unit goals and processes including TJR program. Quality/Customer Service Facilitates educational programs for patients, families, and staff. Assists in policy and procedure development for Orthopedic care to ensure quality and customer service. Identifies potential risks to patient safety, autonomy, and quality of care based on assessment across the continuum. Synthesizes assessment data, advanced knowledge, and experience using critical thinking and clinical judgement to formulate differential diagnosis for clinical problems. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and collaborative relationships with interdepartmental/ intradepartmental staff, healthcare team members, physicians, patients, families, and significant others. Assesses current nursing practice and participates in evidence-based practice change and research practices to further enhance outcomes. Participates in the conduct or implementation of research which may include one or more of the following: identification of questions for clinical inquiry, literature reviews, study design and implementation, data collection, data analysis, dissemination of findings for potential application to clinical practice. Contributes to the advancement of the profession as a whole by disseminating outcomes of practice through presentations and publications. Financial Accountability Assists with the operating and capital equipment budgets for departments that have direct or indirect relationships with the TJR Program. Demonstrates fiscal accountability for efficient cost-effective utilization of equipment/supplies based on the needs of the patient. Professionalism Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of nursing process, standards of care, and policies and procedures. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to foster professional growth and development of the TJR staff and inpatient unit staff; assesses capabilities and needs of the staff, and ensures effective orientation processes. Demonstrates professionalism, leadership, and team building skills; ensures on-going personal growth and development Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM DESIRABLE Education, Credentials, Licenses: MSN NAON (National Association of Orthopedic Nurses) Certification Graduate of accredited school of nursing, licensed to practice nursing in the state where work is being performed. Meets contact hour requirements for licensure, including all state required courses Specialized Knowledge: Expert knowledge in the care of the TJR patient Ability to assess patient needs and evaluate nursing care Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of nursing standards, evidence-based practices, policies and procedures Must be able to positively interact with all departments and physicians Team building skills Leadership Skills Customer Service Skills Kind and Length of Experience: 5 years of Acute-Care clinical Orthopedic experience in the direct care of TJR patients Experience in the developing and presentation of Orthopedic educational programs
