Full Job Description
Effective interpersonal communication (written and verbal), organizational and teamwork skills required. Ability to function independently and utilize various computer programs (Excel, word, Power Point). Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation yearly for position. Be able to acquire BLS within 3 months of employment in this position or as determined by department. Will require ACLS, NRP and PALS certification within one year of employment. Active membership in professional organization (AARC) preferred. 5 years post graduate clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist required.
Manages the provision of quality, cost-effective respiratory care activities in a team-oriented integrated environment, with emphasis on customer-focused service excellence.
• Applies key financial concepts and analysis to decision making. Develops and implements actionable work plans with measurable outcome. Continually assesses and reallocates resources to meet demands.
• Responsible for overseeing day to day operations of assigned area as it relates to scorecard goals and objectives.
• Proactively identifies and implements cost containment initiatives.
• Coordinates resources to provide adequate staffing for department. Demonstrates effective team building and leadership skills. Establishes day-to-day priorities and directs staff task assignments. Facilitates team in problem solving processes.
• Maintains productive, collaborative relationships with physicians, other members of the management team and pre- and post-hospital providers.
• Monitors and evaluates customer satisfaction with services valuing our customer perspective. Collaboratively implements programs to continuously enhance customer satisfaction.
• Assures the effective and timely delivery of high-quality patient-centered services. Recognizes and acts on opportunities for growth and improvement to advance goals of the organization. Utilizes project management principles to accomplish goals, seeks out appropriate resources, and proactively anticipates change within area of responsibility. Translates goals into department specific objectives and priorities.
• Communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in an ongoing, timely, and accurate fashion. Establishes forums to engage in open, honest, and proactive two-way communication.
• Establishes and continuously evaluates unit processes and reporting procedures to ensure achievement. Revises as needed.
• Formulates, reviews, revises and maintains written policies and procedures as appropriate.
• Inspires enthusiasm and builds support for projects. Attracts, selects, develops, and retains qualified employees, and is effective in utilizing developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
• Creates a safe working environment while providing opportunities to develop maximum potential. Facilitates professional growth and development including the provision of in-service programming and an effective performance appraisal process.
• Plans for growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources. Utilizes developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
• Responsible for compliance with applicable regulatory, licensure and accrediting standards where applicable (JCAHO etc).
• May perform patient care procedures for patients of all ages.
What We Require:
Education: Graduate of JRCRTE accredited Advance Care Practitioner Respiratory Care program required. Bachelor's degree required or 8 years of equivalent experience.
Experience: 3-5 years in respiratory clinical care (for adult acute care, 3-5 years in adult acute/intensive care. For pediatric care, 3-5 years in peds/newborn care). 2-3 years in a supervisory or lead position.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed by the state of VA and Registered (RRT) by National Board for Respiratory Care.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, team leadership, priority setting and work competency skills at current level of practice.
