The Dean’s Office within the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for a Budgeting and Financial Analyst. The School of Engineering and Applied Science (http://[ Link removed ] - Click here to apply to Budget and Financial Analyst consists of 8 departments across the field of engineering. The school has seen tremendous growth in student population and faculty, as well as in its research expenditures in recent years. Reporting to the Engineering Director of Finance, the Budgeting and Financial Analyst will perform a hybrid of complex finance work, encompassing a range of specialties, such as accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury.

The Budgeting and Financial Analyst Assist with producing, reconciling, and distributing the financial reports for gift, endowment, local, and select state general project, task, and award combinations on a consistent basis according to University guidelines and the reconciliation schedule.
This role will also:

Review and approve transactions related to fellowship activity within the School, and report on that activity to stakeholders.

Examine cash balances periodically, invest funds, or spend appropriately to ensure the optimization of cash management. Including performing expenditure transfers, journal entries and/or labor adjustments to ensure the proper use of funds.

Monitor activity and work with stakeholders to address deficits or close worktags upon completion.

Provide assistance with identifying funding sources and completing forms upon request, specifically related to graduate tuition.

Assist in maintaining worktags for the School

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

At least one year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge of Workday, UBI and SAFM.​

Experience with the UVA’s FST.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $55,000 - $61,000 commensurate with education and experience.
