Job Description
Summary/objective
The Waterpark Director is responsible for the overall operations of the acac Waterpark. The position involves overseeing Managers on Duty and other team members who may lead multiple areas of the Waterpark which may include: Member Services, Café, Lifeguards, Swim Lesson Instructors and Maintenance. The Waterpark Director is expected to assist directly in any of the above-mentioned areas as need arises, and is responsible for working collaboratively with the Adventure Central Facility Director for the successful opening and closing of the Waterpark in the “off-season.”

Waterpark Opening
• Inventory of necessary facility and operational items – purchase and replace needed items
• Anticipate staffing needs and proactively seek to fill positions
• Training of all Managers on Duty (MOD)
• Collaborate with MODs and HR in scheduling and implementing Waterpark orientation for all new team members
• Ensure that all Waterpark areas are fully operational prior to opening day
• Coordinate with Adventure Central Department Heads to create a summer events calendar
Café
• Work collaboratively with the Waterpark Café Manager to ensure safety, quality and financial success
Member Services
• Inventory items needed for opening and successful Member Services operations
• Secure cash for register prior to opening
• Hire Member Service team and coordinate weekly scheduling
• Ensure Member Service team is knowledgeable of all acac member and guest policies and procedures
• Ensure Member Service team is properly trained in POS operation
• Ensure Member Service team is properly versed in Waterpark programs and swim lesson and are able to relay information to members and/or guests
Aquatics
• Ensure proper lifeguarding equipment is available; purchase needed items and replace non-functioning equipment
• Hire Lifeguards; ensure all lifeguards carry a current Lifeguard, CPR/FA/AED certification
• Create a weekly lifeguard schedule; ensure appropriate lifeguard coverage at all times
• Schedule and conduct lifeguard in-services to ensure high standard of safety at all times
• Collaborate with Swim Lessons Coordinator regarding swim lessons; ensure proper pool space is available for programming
• Drive swim lessons/programming revenue increase from year to year
Swim Team
• Collaborate with Swim team coaches in planning use of pool space
• Collaborate with Swim team coaches in set-up and break-down of WP prior to and following home swim meets
Facilities/Maintenance
• Communicate with Adventure Central Facilities Director regarding any large scale repairs
• Work with Adventure Central Facilities Director to ensure that pump rooms, waterslides, diving board, and diving blocks are fully operational and safe for use
• Confirm all areas of Waterpark are free of hazards; quickly act on any hazardous areas to ensure member/guest and team member safety
• Be able to conduct Emergency Plan if/when needed
Waterpark Closing
• Timely closing of the Waterpark including storing of furniture and equipment
• Ensure Café and Member Services areas are cleared, cleaned, and unused items discarded
• Termination of acac accounts for all seasonal staff
General Waterpark Director Expectations
• Approve time clocks for team members
• Set and maintain clear expectations among team members regarding acac policies and procedures
• Be a visible presence at the Waterpark during operational hours and special events
• Assist in front-line areas as needed
• Maintain a current Lifeguard, CPR/FA/AED certification
• Obtain a certified pool operator’s license
• Greet Waterpark members and guests
• Be prepared to act in Emergency Situations and be the point of contact
• Display a professional and friendly attitude at all times
• Communicate with Adventure Central Site Manager on at least a weekly basis
• Ensure all Waterpark team members are properly set up with acac email and POS accounts as needed
• Work collaboratively with all acac team members, especially department heads
• Work collaboratively with Vice President of Operations and Aquatic Directors at all acac sites
Required competencies, education, and experience
• High School Diploma required
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Prior experience managing or leading teams in an aquatic or waterpark environment highly desired
Physical demands
• Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend for the duration of the shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in and during high stress situations
• Must be able to work in a warm and/or hot outdoor environment with heightened noise
Company Expectations

• Read, sign, and abide by the policies included in the Team Member Handbook
• Park in team member designated areas
• Club cleanliness is an all-team responsibility; assist whenever necessary in any area of the club to keep club neat and clean
• Assist with Service Days
• Willingness to assist with acac programs, special events, or activities outside your department
• When supervisor or team members calls or email, promptly return contact
• Exhibit a positive attitude at all times
• Deliver outstanding service to members and guests with friendliness, direct eye contact, a pleasant demeanor at all times
