Position Summary
The Director of the Gwinnett Campus of the University of Georgia is the senior most administrator at the UGA Gwinnett Campus and oversees all academic and support services. The position reports directly to the Vice President for Instruction and collaborates with colleges and schools concerning the development of new degree programs for offering in Gwinnett.
This individual will oversee all aspects of the success of the UGA Gwinnett Campus, with responsibilities including:
* The day-to-day operations of the UGA Gwinnett Campus and its programs and activities, in accordance with federal, state, and university guidelines and policies.
* Oversight of the academic affairs and support-service areas, such as the library and information technology, across the campus to coordinate with the colleges and schools concerning the operation and development of degree programs for offering in Gwinnett.
* Implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures for use of the Gwinnett Campus for both academic and non-academic events.
* Coordinate with the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, Small Business Development Center and academic units concerning the development and offering of additional non-credit programs in Gwinnett.
* Work with and collaborate with the Office of the Vice President as a community partner for Instruction, other units, and external constituencies within the Gwinnett County government and community agencies within the metro Atlanta area.
This position is responsible for the supervision of several staff members and works full-time at the Gwinnett Campus, traveling as needed to the UGA campus. UGA teaching faculty at the Gwinnett Campus report directly to the head of the academic units, and the Director coordinates with those unit heads in the management of those teaching faculty and support personnel. This position coordinates with the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, Carl Vinson Institute of Government, Small Business Development Center and academic units concerning the development and offering of non-credit programs in Gwinnett. The Director will hold an administrative faculty rank (non-tenure track). Internal faculty applicants may be eligible to retain their current rank on appointment.
Additional Requirements Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
* A terminal degree is preferred.
* An excellent working knowledge of the University of Georgia, its budget processes, various administrative offices and the faculty.
* A background that includes administration and supervision, budget management and general knowledge about UGA programs at the Gwinnett Campus.
* A demonstrated track record of supporting and expanding high-quality research programs and interdisciplinary research.
* A demonstrated track record of supporting innovative learning and student success at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* Organizational skills, creativity, ability to handle a wide range of projects simultaneously, flexibility, experience in dealing with the logistics of complex programs, and the ability to respond to short deadlines and last-minute changes.
* Strong interpersonal skills are needed as this individual interacts with many internal and external constituencies.
* Ability to work and collaborate effectively with the Office of the Vice President as a community partner for Instruction, other units, and external constituencies within the Gwinnett County government and community agencies within the metro Atlanta area.
* Proven ability to manage an academic organization as demonstrated by a background that includes leadership experience as department head, program director, assistant dean or the equivalent.
* Strong leadership with sound budgetary skills.
* Ability to interact effectively with the faculty, staff and students and community members, and willingness to attend evening and weekend functions as required.
* A commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence.
* Ability to communicate the mission and importance of the programs on the Gwinnett Campus to internal and external audiences.
* Ability to work and collaborate effectively with the Office of the Vice President for Instruction, other units, and external constituencies.
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to teaching, research, service and outreach.
* A clear understanding of and commitment to the mission of a land-grant university.
* The highest degree of personal integrity and an ability to gain/maintain the confidence of the faculty and staff, both internal and external to the campus, through effective communication and transparent decision making.

Percentage Of Time 50 Duties/Responsibilities
Coordinate with colleges and schools concerning ongoing graduate degree
programs, as well as development of new programs, for offering in Gwinnett.
Percentage Of Time 25 Duties/Responsibilities
Implementation of policies and procedures for use of the Gwinnett Campus for academic and non-academic events.
Percentage Of Time 15 Duties/Responsibilities
Other special assignments depending upon the needs of the Office of the Vice President for Instruction.
