Full Job Description
This position is responsible for all Uniform and specific PPE support in the area of Technical Design. This role will support the company vision of innovation by participating in the development of new ideas for new product development and innovation. This position reports to the Product Innovation Developer – Uniforms.
Essential Functions:
• Creates and maintains specifications and tech packs for new and existing products.
• Assists in developing new product specifications related to specials projects, working with all necessary cross functional partners to ensure accuracy of information.
• Assists in developing new products and verifying proper components and construction details are used.
• Process product changes to update necessary documentation.
• Communicate new product, product updates and changes as appropriate, including design and artwork as applicable.
• Conduct sample reviews including measuring garments, checking construction, and communicating findings as needed.
• Request Certification samples and track requests.
• Provide pattern support as applicable.
• Review and approve Lion Uniform production markers supplied by vendors.
• Communicate with external vendors and internal manufacturing facilities.
• Assist Product Innovation Developer – Uniforms with fittings, photographs and note taking.
• Participate in meetings related to new product development and designs.
• Performs special projects related to product design and development across the enterprise including Fire Fighting garments, gloves, hoods, and training product soft goods as required.
• Other duties as needed
Education & Experience:
• Minimum education 2-year college degree or equivalent experience/education in lieu of degree.
• Background and experience in technical design, garment construction, pattern making, and apparel manufacturing is preferred.
• Understanding of garment measurement and Tech packs is preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the production process as it relates to product design.
• Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, Illustrator, Oracle.
• Experience in Gerber or another pattern making software is preferred but not required.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications.
• Detail oriented and able to work independently and track projects in process.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.
Relationships & Contacts:
• Internal - Marketing, Product Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Compliance. Including Uniform manufacturing, PPE manufacturing and Starfield LION PPE manufacturing.
• External – Vendors, Suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
