POSITION TITLE: Facilities Intern
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Facilities Intern position is designed to provide a basic understanding of the aspects in creating a more sustainable and better-built environment. The Facilities Intern will develop skills to review and understand blueprints and building designs, assist with performing energy audits, benchmark utilities with historical & new data, assist in rebate and grant opportunities, and some hands-on fieldwork experience. The Facilities Intern will interact with a variety of professionals and represent the bank in interactions with others. This position will further your knowledge and understanding in how buildings interact with the people inside.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Assists with energy analysis on bank buildings, to include data entry
* Utilizes the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Star Portfolio Manager to benchmark Bank utilities for future certifications
* Processes rebate and grant opportunities
* Engages with reviewing blueprints and other design documents
* Engages and interacts with local/city representatives, utility companies, architects, engineers, and some local businesses
* Assists with data entry and file maintenance
* Hands-on opportunities with the bank's Maintenance team
* Assist with coordinating sustainability initiatives across the Bank in conjunction with the Carter Bank Green Team and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Committee
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program and have an interest in sustainable practices
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Willingness to ask questions and learn new skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Data entry skills
* Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced environment
* Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
* General knowledge of buildings
* Experience with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) or similar software, or architectural designs is a plus
* Ability to read blueprints is a plus
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:
* Standing, walking, bending and stooping required
* Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
* Must be able to occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds
* Limited travel required during and after business hours
