Position Summary
The College of Engineering is engaged in a multi-year project to advance artificial intelligence in manufacturing, a part of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge Grant program. Project requirements to develop a significant quantity of artificial intelligence-related education modules suitable for remote training has created a need for a full-time software developer/programmer position.
The University of Georgia's College of Engineering is seeking a Software Developer to help design, implement, and deliver educational modules in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) in manufacturing. The goal of these modules will be to showcase the opportunities for entrepreneurship, especially within communities in the state of Georgia most likely to be impacted by increasing automation. The developer will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of software that are contained within these modules, and that support their on-site delivery. They will also assist with the design and delivery of these modules alongside a team of Faculty, Staff, and Students at the University of Georgia as well as a team of experienced professionals at the Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
This position is funded through the Build Back Better Regional Challenge Grant Program. While the project is expected to be a multi-year project, continuation of this position is solely related to continuation of grant funding.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Augmented Reality, Machine Learning, Cloud Technologies, and the Internet of Things are all expected to be a part of this project. Knowledge and experience in at least one, but preferably more of these areas, is highly desirable.
• Accordingly, the applicant should be fluent in a number of programming languages common within these areas, including Python, C#, C, and JavaScript and should be skilled in integrating diverse off-the shelf hardware (e.g., robots, headsets, cameras) and software systems (e.g. machine learning frameworks/models, databases).
• Skilled in deploy and maintain software, and experience working with Git/GitHub.
• Skilled in working on diverse teams, but also to work efficiently, independently, with autonomy and initiative.
• Skilled in producing high quality written and visual manuals and documentation.
