General Role Description
Optimize the Business Unit (BU) to meet the short and mid-term period (1 to 3 years) of the Mid-Range Plan (MRP) and the long term (3 to 7 years) strategy. Own the full P&L for the business. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the system (structure, processes, technology, services and products) by which the business strategy and P&L are effectively fulfilled.
Role Accountabilities
- Formulate and execute the BU's vision, mission, and strategic objectives and initiatives to achieve the Company and Parent Company vision
- Build and lead a world-class team by promoting and instilling a culture of superior performance, ethical conduct, professional development, and personal learning, through effective managerial leadership
- Ensure the team has a clear and compelling vision of 'what great looks like' and a plan to achieve it
- Ensure each function's structure, processes, technology, services and products is designed to deliver the strategic intent of the function
- Guide the efforts of direct reports in the development and implementation of current and long-range objectives, policies, and procedures
- Develop and manage the annual and semi-annual MRP to ensure orders, sales, contribution margin and income before taxes goals are achieved
- Report all aspects of BU performance as scheduled and requested to Company and Parent Company management, including commentary and analysis, and identification of key items requiring management attention
- Ensure appropriate risk mitigation through systematic risk assessment and risk mitigation tools and processes
- Coordinate and influence within the entire organization to secure resources and solutions to successfully execute the strategy and deliver the committed P&L
- Monitor and identify external global, regional, and local trends and issues, such as political, economic, social, technological, and legal, with potential impact on the business; develop and implement appropriate strategies for the BU, prepare analytical reports to support BU plans and recommend appropriate strategies to the Company, Parent Company and/or other Group Company executive leadership
- Monitor and investigate industry trends, the BU's market position, competitive threats, and opportunities in the BU's area of operations; develop and implement appropriate strategies for the BU, prepare analytical reports to support BU plans and recommend appropriate strategies to the Company, Parent Company and/or other Group Company executive leadership
- Assess the BU's capabilities, products, services, and technologies; develop and implement appropriate strategies for the BU, prepare analytical reports to support BU plans and recommend appropriate strategies to the Company, Parent Company and/or other Group Company executive leadership
- Develop executable strategies for business expansion in the BU's area of operation
- Build and sustain productive relationships with Company, Group Company and Parent Company contacts to ensure timely and accurate communication of issues, concerns, and requests for assistance are acknowledged and subsequently addressed
- Cooperate with Company, Parent Company and other Group Company executive leadership to develop and execute global business strategies and initiatives
- Build and sustain a world-wide executive network of contacts to influence and maintain a favorable business climate
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with end user customers, OEMs, suppliers, channel partners and other business partners
- Proactively and positively promote and exemplify the TMEIC brand to internal and external contacts, and the general public
- Ensure compliance with all Company and Parent Company policies, practices, and procedures, and all regulations and laws in all areas where the BU operates
- Plan and execute projects to aid in improving and growing the Company and Parent Company to meet goals set by the Company and Parent Company executive leadership

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of science degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer engineering or related engineering or technical disciplines or equivalent via education and/or work experience
- 5 years of experience leading a business unit with full P&L accountability in a technical, project-based business
- 5 years of experience leading and developing managers
- 10 years of capital projects experience in metals, material handling, solar, oil and gas and/or related general industries
- 15 years total management experience in a technical project-based business
- Demonstrated success establishing and communicating business unit vision, goals and objectives
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing strategic business plans to meet or exceed revenue and profit goals
- Demonstrated success developing new markets
- Demonstrated strong collaboration, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills
- Demonstrated success developing, implementing, measuring, and improving effective systems
- Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
- Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
- Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Availability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25%, sometimes with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in business administration, finance, engineering or a related field
- Experience in a business with foreign ownership, preferably Japanese
