Responsible for conducting sophisticated quality assurance inspections. Uses results, considerable judgment and initiative to improve production processes and standards.
The Technician Level 4 will report directly to the Laboratory Supervisor and provide general laboratory support, and routine testing in compliance with laboratory test methods and procedures that supports manufacturing and timely delivery of product to customers. After training the Technician IV will perform more advanced testing involving quantitative instrumentation. May be asked to provide guidance to less experienced technicians and guide them through special projects. Also may be trained to perform routine calibrations of instrumentation or be involved in special laboratory projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Performs advanced tests and analyses to assure that products follow established specifications.
• Carries out complex calculations and documents test results.
• Writes and/or reviews complex technical reports, develops charts, graphs, schematics and drawings to illustrate improvement processes.
• Ensures tools and test equipment are properly calibrated and repaired according to standard operating procedures.
• Makes recommendations on improving quality, efficiency, cost of company product(s), processes, and/or productivity techniques.
• Ensures all documentation is recorded properly and follows corporate standard operating procedures.
• Applies nonstandard test techniques where normal procedures do not fulfill testing needs.
• Works with high level of self-motivation from little or no documentation, instruction or mentorship.
• Resolves methods and procedures on new assignments.
• Applies in-depth knowledge and detailed practice.
• Sampling
• Preparation of sample labels
• Independent analysis of routine samples using the applicable test methods
• Advanced analyses that are not compendial
• Logging in of samples into electronic lab systems or manual systems which would include logbooks and the maintenance of control numbers.
• Performing and monitoring routine testing using laboratory instruments
• Recognizing problems during the analysis
• Initiating investigations for non-conforming laboratory test results
• Performing daily calibration/verification checks on laboratory instruments
• May be asked to aid in calibration activities
• Making and recording lab observations and calculations.
• Collecting and preparing data for evaluation.
• Archiving documentation on testing that has been completed.
• Performing other related duties as assigned by management.
• Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level
• For those who supervise or lead a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
• Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures

• Use test equipment (Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, Microscope, Instron,etc) where applicable.
• Use applicable software systems as needed for the job (e.g. ComplianceWire, ADAPTIV, etc.)
• Consistently meet required work performance targets (RE's), if applicable
• Support LEAN and Six Sigma Initiatives.
• Support Maintenance Excellence (ME2) including 6S and Operator Asset Care.
• Accurately complete records as defined within the job procedures (e.g. manual and/or electronic documentation).
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Consistently meet required Training due date targets.
• Supports ERP Transactions for Production release & MES (Manufacturing Execution system) by identifying, evaluating and resolving problems.
• Supports the implementation of changes to improve teamwork and increase productivity and efficiency.
• Performs follow up on all problems and assignments including those of a non-routine nature.
• Initiates specification changes, ensuring accurate and complete information.
• Assists in projects including the validation of test methods and transfer of new products/processed/test methods.
• Support manufacturing in the day-to-day troubleshooting situations and actively participates on Integrated Production System (IPT). (If applicable).
• Assists with special projects by supporting the development of new test methods and test transfers and performing investigative test analysis as the need arises.
Qualifications
Education:
• A minimum of Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
• Requires 6-8 Years Work Experience.
• Training in GMP and ISO requirements.
• Self-motivated.
• Basic or advanced computer and database leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills.
• Statistical and analytical problem solving.
Preferred:
• Prefer knowledge of lean manufacturing and Process Excellence.
